I have a 500 sq/ft garage I'm wanting to remodel to make it more useable as a gym and play area. I've heard that epoxy has a tendency to fail if you park your car on it after driving often (I commute daily and park back in the garage upon getting home) and the slabs here can get a bit damp, so also a bit concerned about moisture from below. Are those unwarranted concerns? I like the look of Swisstrax, but it does seem like it would be more expensive than even a pro install of the epoxy at least in my area.

Neither for the gym portion. You’ll want 3/4” rubber. 1st choice rolled. 2nd puzzle piece. 3rd But cheapest, horse stall mats.

If you're doing the Swisstrax yourself it'll work out cheaper if cost is your only concern. The part you may want to think about is saving some costs by only putting Swisstrax down in the non-gym area. Swisstrax wouldn't be great in a gym/play area. It has no give and can be slippery if wet. Swisstrax is NOT great if you work with a bunch of smaller parts on projects. Dropping a small screw can range from a nightmare to just gone.

Had epoxy applied to my 3 car garage 20y ago when I first moved in. Never peeled but I wasn’t able to remove some oil stains over the years. Also got tired of wet slippery floor when it rained.

Installed Swisstrax flooring tiles over the weekend. I used a circular saw and had a setup that helped me cut perfectly straight tiles. I have a garage gym with horse stall mats and these tiles had the same thickness so everything fit together perfectly. Cost about $2500 after a 20% discount from Swisstrax. They provided great customer service and these tiles were super ez to work with. The last time I did any tile flooring work was installing plastic vinyl flooring at my parents house 35 years ago. Overall, I’m ecstatic at the new look and very happy about how everything turned out.

Why would you want a porous floor with these kind of angles and ridges in it? Wouldn’t it just catch all the trash and garbage and get gunked up? How would you comfortably roll around on a chair or stool on that stuff? I mean, it looks kinda good from a distance but this sounds like a cleaning nightmare tbh.

DM’d you a pic of my Vevor Brand. Super cheap from eBay. (eBay is cheaper than their website fwiw). Looks fantastic. Glad I spent only like 500 on these versus 2500 on SwissTrax for my 2 car garage. I had a shoestring budget for my garage build so these were super clutch. EDIT: See Pics https://imgur.com/a/hU646pf

No but I used Racedeck, which is less expensive than Swisstrax and looks amazing in my garage. Been holding up solid for almost two years. And if you email for a quote, they will give better pricing than you see online as you will be working directly with a sales rep. I originally thought I’d spend 3k for my two car garage but only ended up costing me like $1400.
