Strongly considering legs and just slapping my own wood top on it. Ikea has some decently cheap solid wood I could stain myself or I even considered one of their "thick veneer" countertops (although I'm guessing I can't cut these countertops shorter ? Does that expose the core, could I just reglue or attach another veneer from the initial piece?
Any other sources I should be looking at? Craigslist used coffee tables, home depot ? I'm not looking for something too pricey and don't mind staining it myself if necessary. I have forzner bits and can drill my own grommets and whatnot
If you go ikea, get the gerton. It's my understanding this one is quality because it's actually solid wood. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/gerton-tabletop-beech-50106773/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAqdP9BRDVARIsAGSZ8AlEEQLWr6CNEtrps1r0yEw7TK8QCXwn65eAgSRzSmKzuef3vNuqZmcaAoRfEALw_wcB
Anything else you get will be a huge gamble unless it's also solid wood (I think they have a bamboo one). If you try to cut it to size, you may find it has a hollow core covered by laminate, at least one of their desktops is, and I bet there are others.
We bought very nice solid bamboo 60x30 tops from Amazon. Surprisingly very high quality, very well packed and free shipping with Prime.
not sure if this is the right subreddit for that
so i am generally looking to get a new desk. one that allows me to install a vesa arm on it - either through a hole or with a clamp.
does ikea currently sell any desk tops that are solid enough to do that? i currently have an ikea desk, micke, but thats definitely not solid. also due to how its build i cant install a vesa arm on it anyway.
