Currently looking to buy a new mattress as my current bed in a box has become too soft.
Have tested Tempur-Pedic Adapt Medium and Pro Adapt Medium in numerous stores and love the feel/support.
My only hang-up is the countless reviews I see online stating they will do anything to get out of a warranty and the product sagging or dipping a few years after ownership.
I just don't want to get stuck with a $3200 bed that fails in a few years. Does anyone here have any thoughts, good or bad? If you own one, which model and for how long?
Definitely spelt the brand wrong..
Looking to buy our first King sized, goal is for it to last a while as we won’t be going bigger than a king.. not really a budget but less is obviously better. Originally I was all about the nectar hybrid copper, but we tried the memory foam one and didn’t love it. Sales person got us on a hybrid tempurpedic with cooling sheet and we fell in love..
Guess my question is - are these mattresses really worth 5k? Do they last longer than the competition? What are some other worthy entries to look at.
I have 2 bulging disks and sciatica (worse on right but still a little on left side too). Wife and I both sleep on side for the most part.
Thanks for the help, I have trust issues and the salesperson was really leaning into the whole “Made for NASA” bit of the tempurpedic lol.
My boyfriend (M31) and I (M26) are on the hunt for a new mattress. We’re moving in together at the end of next month, and we are in dire need of a new bed lol his old mattress that we’ve been using (old king from at least 8 years ago) was hurting our backs so bad the other night, we woke up in the middle of the night and decided to find a mattress topper in the interim until we buy a new one together.
I have ALWAYS wanted a Tempur Pedic mattress. I don’t know if it’s this odd impression I’ve gotten from watching countless hours of ads in 2000s. Are they worth the purchase at all? If not, what’s another comparable/reputable memory foam kind of mattress you would recommend? I don’t know the material those beds use, so something like that would be sweet.
Much appreciated in advance! 😇
I see in some places it says they're worth the price but others say the price is scam. What is it?
Got a Luxe Breeze (firm) delivered two weeks ago tonight. Thought I was avoiding any potential issues by getting something “top-of-the-line,” but…
I’m in agony. At first it was just a bit of upper back soreness in the mornings, which I chalked up to much discussed “adjustment period.”
But after the first few nights, I think each new night only gets worse. I wake up frequently, and when the morning alarm goes off, I feel exhausted still, with new lower back pain. This morning I also had a kink in my neck that feels way more painful than mere soreness.
My wife is also on a bit of a journey with it… she reports sore shoulders, too, though not as bad as me it seems. But, she’s also having the problem of her hands going numb, which, uh, seems bad…?
This can’t possibly be the normal “break-in” experience, can it? If it is, how do they expect people to survive the 30 days (or more…??) of pain and terrible sleep?
I’m having a breakdown, and I’m genuinely not sure if I should just keep soldiering on because yeah, it’s normal break-in, or if I should just wait out the 30 days they make you keep this thing by sleeping on the ground, instead. (I’ve had decent luck with that, recently, while we waited for this supposedly best-of-the-best mattress to be delivered…)
For what it’s worth, I’m in the heavier side at 240 lbs. I think of myself as a stomach sleeper because that’s how I fall asleep, but my wife reports that I do often roll onto my side… I know this is sort of a terrible combination, but we had an ancient, not particularly high-end spring mattress before this that didn’t cause me these types of problems.
My wife is much lighter at about 165 lbs, and she sleeps in all sorts of configurations, but mostly side and back.
What should we do…? (I’m kind of just venting frustration, but if anyone who’s not a mattress salesperson does have any sage wisdom, I’m here for that, too…)
I wanted to share my recent experience with Tempur-Pedic, hoping it might help others who are considering their products or dealing with similar issues.
Two years ago, I purchased a Tempur-Pedic Pro Adapt Medium mattress. Initially, it was great, but after only a year, the foam started to lose integrity and support, sagging at the hips when I lay on it, making it uncomfortable and very different from when I first purchased it. Naturally, I reached out to Tempur Sealy to make a warranty claim, as their warranty seemed to cover sagging.
Tempur Sealy's warranty specifically states that sagging needs to be 3/4" or greater to be covered, and the measurement is taken without anyone on the mattress. However, foam mattresses like mine often lose support without visibly sagging that much unless weight is applied. Despite providing photos and evidence of the mattress's decline, my claim was rejected because the sagging didn’t meet their specified measurement. This requirement effectively voids any meaningful warranty coverage.
It’s impossible for a customer to know that a 3/4" sag rule isn’t sufficient for basic coverage, especially since detailed information about their materials isn't readily available. Customer service and legal only gave me canned responses that didn’t answer my questions.
I decided to take the issue to small claims court. In the pre-hearing, Tempur Sealy showed no interest in compromising or settling, which led to the court date. They lost the case, but tried as hard as they could to stall by appealing, losing the appeal and delaying as much as possible. Eventually, they paid me the full amount plus interest and court fees on the last possible day before facing fines or collection proceedings.
This entire ordeal has been quite the learning experience. If anyone else has faced similar issues, I’d love to hear how you handled it.
It’s strange because they could have probably retained me as a customer, but instead, they created someone who will forever crusade against them. I think they used to be really good, but like other companies, they now seem to rely on their brand name rather than quality products.
I ended up getting a Sleep on Latex mattress based on positive Reddit reviews, and it has been great so far for my wife and me.
So far I have owned 2 Tempur beds. Both felt great for a while when I first got them, but then not even 2 years later they started becoming too soft to the point of causing pain. Not acceptable for a bed costing several thousands.
The first Tempur I bought was the perfect firmness at the time of purchace. The second one was even more firm, because my thinking was the extra firm would just soften up to firmness I like. Both ended up becoming too soft. My brother had the same problem with his Tempur becoming too soft as well. Keep in mind I am only around 145 pounds.
Their are even some people reporting their Tempur becoming too soft even after only 6 months. I also heard that 20 years ago Tempur was better quality and didn't soften so much, then after they developed a name, they started cheaping out on quality.
Anyway, just be warned that if you buy a Tempur, 6-24 months after you buy it, there is a decent chance of it losing a lot of its firmness, to the point of causing pain.
I am not sure what is the best bed to buy to retain firmness. Maybe somone in the comments can chime in.
Update: Flipped my mattres around and had even a worse sleep, because my body I guess was so used to the extra soft side, that the firmer side was a shock? So now we have one end way too soft and one way too firm. Oh Tempur why must you be so difficult?
Me and my wife are in the market for a new bed. With my lower back pain I need a firm mattress. We are thinking about getting the Luxe Adapt Firm.
The reviews online are all pretty good but I have yet to see one post on here about liking their Tempurpedic. So I’m trying to see if there is anyone in the world that actually likes their bed?
Our other 2 options are Serta iseries hybrid firm or the Airelook platinum preferred Austin.
I know mattresses are not BIFL but I'd like one that lasts at least 10 years since I've had a Tempurpedic mattress from 18 years ago that I loved. It was hot in the summers but perfect. This past year I've been getting lower back pain on it and I've noticed it has soft spots.
I had the worst nights sleep last night so I walked into a store to check out some Tempurpedic mattresses. I ended up purchasing an Adapt Medium to change it up.
I got home and took a nap on my mattress and noticed how different the new Tempurpedics feel from the models 18 years ago... Then I made the mistake of going onto the internet for reviews. Specifically, Reddit. That's why I'm asking here. I feel r/Mattress is either: salesmen, people looking for a mattress, people who have used a mattress for a few months, or people complaining/unhappy.
Is there anyone a few years in with a newer Tempurpedic that hasn't had any issues with sinking?
Hi everyone, I bought my first tempurpedic and we got it yesterday. Last night was our first sleep on the bed. I’m a side sleeper/stomach sleeper and had went with the firm option as online said that was the most bought firmness. I didn’t sleep too well and both of my shoulders were very sore when I woke today and are still 10 hours later. After the fact I read today that I should have probably went with a softer option. I know there is a break in period so I’m unsure what to do. Do I wait and give it at least 30 days and see how it goes or do I just exchange now and if I do now what in your opinion should I look to get ? I bought the tempurpedic LuxeBreeze 10 degree cooling in firm and the options are soft medium hybrid and medium. The mattress was almost $6000 so I’m kinda on the fence about the whole thing. I don’t wanna pay 6 grand for something that is going to hurt me everyday but then again idk if I’m jumping the gun to get something different. Thoughts ?
Avoid purchasing Tempur-Pedic mattresses. I bought a Luxe Breeze (Firm) king-size mattress (from their flagship store in NYC), and within a year, the firmness deteriorated significantly, causing back pain. The sales agents were deceptive, and the Tempur-Pedic warranty is essentially a scam. Unlike traditional spring mattresses, memory foam doesn’t show visible depressions (unlike traditional spring mattresses) so the warranty won’t cover the mattress even if it loses its original quality.
In the unlikely event that you manage to achieve the required 1.5-inch depression (defying physics & gravity), they will only provide a credit to purchase another subpar mattress from their brand. In the end, you’ll end up spending even more money. Save yourself the trouble and research reviews on YouTube or Reddit to find other horror stories similar to mine, else be subject to a 5k+ purchase that will only last you a year at best.
They promised customer satisfaction, but yet when I continue to complain that the beds give me back pains and I’ll wake up so sore they refuse to take the mattress back
Edit: We have the Luxbreeze medium hybrid now after exchanging it from the firm. It really feels as if we are sleeping on top of the bed versus having that conforming mattress they sold us during the sales pitch. Once you exchange it you no longer can switch it for a different bed. So the 90-day satisfaction guaranteed by the customer service policy is voided once the switch is completed. Sucks cause we are only 60 days in.
