r/TIdaL on Reddit: Finally switched from Spotify to Tidal
January 16, 2025 -

I have used Spotify since 2017. I remember how simpler and easier was to use. Spotify now adds tons of features that I never use. It makes the phone and desktop app slower. Sure, I am not using the newest iPhone or newest PC, but streaming platform should be optimized for older devices. I use iPhone 13, by the way.

My breaking point was Spotify pushing artists they promote such as Sabrina Carpenter. Sure, I could have blocked her music. But, I am not that big of a hater of her music to block her. It was just annoying how I couldn't escape her songs at all. Few time was fine, but every time is bit excessive.

Another reason was useless features that I don't need. Eat the playlist (Like... what), AI Playlist maker, Smart Shuffle, previews of songs in TikTok format. Let's not forget questionable UI changes.

When I decided to switch, I tried Deezer, Youtube Music, and Apple Music. I haven't bat an eye on Amazon Music. But, the only one that I liked was Tidal. It is minimalistic and simple. I only wish I can add my own playlist cover, but that's it.. The thing I wouldn't ever say years ago is that it has better discovery features. Spotify adds same 50 songs to all my customized playlist. I am not sure what downgrade happened there, but it's noticeable.

The actual reason why I stayed on Spotify is how long I have used it, and Spotify Wrapped. This year Spotify Wrapped was so bad, that I don't think it's worth staying anymore. I have lastfm, where I can check stats whenever I want to.

Sure, Spotify has social features. But, I have no friends... So, I never had issues with that. I mean, I prefer to be private rather than my friends being able to see what exact playlist, and song I am listening to.

And lastly, Tidal still has a heart button. :)

Tidal or Spotify?
I hate giving this answer because it comes across the wrong way, but...... You've used both. You really need to decide for yourself which fits your needs better. I will never pay for Spotify. I already have Amazon prime, so I get my podcasts ad free. I've always found what I want on tidal. What I liked about tidal is the integration with my pkex music library. Now that it is going away, I'll probably just go back to Amazon music unlimited. I think the point is everyone has different preferences. There is not, and never will be, a one size fits all answer. Finally switched from Spotify to Tidal
Moved over a week ago. Tidal is already recommending me songs i knew and loved but Spotify never ever recommended them to me. I was getting more and more frustrated with: - Daily mixes: So, i listen to one freakin' jazz song and now I have to wait months for the AI to catch up that I am not into jazz but I now do have "Daily mix 1: Jazz" - Discover Weekly: Seriously.. How can The Rolling stones .. EVER be a discover weekly for me if I follow them??? - The AI in general is so slow to catch up. Yes, yes, yes .. I listened a lot to hiphop 10 years ago. But come on. I don't need "The next episode" in my shuffle every time I play something hiphop related?! .. There is SO MUCH hiphop..but they keep playing the same ol' 90s hiphop that even the general public knows! Where are those underground bangers? Tidal is in week 1 already so much better. Especially since they have the "Discover daily" with not 30 songs, but around 7., Really nice. I also have the feeling the sound is better in Tidal. The dolby atmos is really nice at home. I also tried Youtube music.. which was really, really good. But no option for Android Auto?! come on. It's 2025. More on reddit.com

Spotify vs. Apple Music vs. Tidal
both Apple Music and  Tidal have free trials – give it a shot while keeping Spotify and you can do an A/B comparison on your equipment. my guess is that you wouldn’t notice a difference on the standard iPhone earbuds. There might be a slight difference in your home system, especially with the treble range being more clear and easier to discern on lossless. More on reddit.com

New Tidal user here- Is Tidal dead?
TIDAL lacks many features that Spotify has , but I don't care about social features that much. I just want to listen to music. But if TIDAL connect can work like Spotify connect , it would be great. More on reddit.com

People also ask

Is Tidal actually better than Spotify?

Whether Tidal is “better” than Spotify depends on individual preferences. Tidal offers hi-fi and master-quality sound, which may appeal to audiophiles or those who prioritize sound quality. Spotify, on the other hand, has a vast music library and is well-known for its curated playlists and discovery features. So, if sound quality is a priority, Tidal might be viewed as better, but for playlist variety and discovery, Spotify has its strengths.

r/TIdaL on Reddit: Tidal or Spotify?
August 28, 2024 -

About a year ago I changed to Tidal, from Spotify, but I still use Spotify for podcasts. The primary reason as to why I switched to Tidal is the bitrate (I went for their at the time HiFi 1XXX bitrate subscribtion as a student). I had just gotten my Sony WH-1000XM5 at the time, but I often find myself wondering why in the world Tidal does not have certain songs, altough their libary is huge I've never had this problem with Spotify before. So my question is whether or not Tidal is actually better in terms of audio quality when listening though Sony WH-1000XM5, or the Sony Linkbuds-S
