Head over to Settings then App Store and uncheck the App Updates toggle. See screenshot. If you have the Low Battery Mode activated, disable it because that option would be greyed out since it’s already disabled when on Low Battery Mode by default.
It seems you have only disabled the iOS automated system updates and not for apps that you have downloaded or purchased through the App Store.
