Max weight through ups is 150 lbs. Anything over 70 is a team lift. Language in the new contract says “under no circumstances shall irregular, incompatible, or over 70 lb packages be comingled with regular packages on a moving belt or slide.” Article 18 section 22 of the master. If it’s over 70 grieve it. Answer from mac_warbly on reddit.com

Weight limit on drop off packages : r/upsstore
March 25, 2024 - We definitely don’t lift stuff. Slide/hand-truck it to the back. Our driver doesn’t care about the weight as long as it’s under 150. ... While I can understand wanting to be respectful of the drivers, I don't see how they can say it's "unfair" when the limit for shipping Ground is 150.

r/UPS on Reddit: I’m close to carrier limits with ground shipping but I’m not… what’s happening?
June 22, 2021 -

Hello,

I recently sold an Xbox 360 on ebay and have shipped plenty of these of out through ground shipping before in the past. When I clicked on purchase a shipping label on ebay, I got a message that said:

“Your close to carrier limits, Please ensure you are not exceeding the carrier limits to avoid incurring additional charges, which can be in excess of $1000”

And showed:

Your package size: Weight: 9 lb 5 oz Length: 15 in Dimensions: 59 in (length 15 in + girth 44 in)

UPS Ground service limits: Max Weight: Up to 9 lb 6 oz Max Length: Up to 108 in (longest dimension of your package) Max Dimensions: Up to 165 in length + girth

What I don’t understand on the previous page on ebay it said that ground shipping had these limits:

Max weight: 150 lbs Max length: 108 in Max dimensions: 165 in (length + girth)

I’ve shipped plenty of packages before with ground shipping that weighed more than 10 lbs. Does anyone anything about this? Thanks in advance!

r/UPS on Reddit: Package Exceeds Weight?
December 18, 2022 -

I've got two separate packages that were out for delivery yesterday. I can't find on my cameras where the driver even stopped at my house. I'm getting a message that says "Your package exceeds the maximum weight we can accept".

The BS of this story is the two boxes weigh about 35-40 pounds each AND UPS accepted the packages from the shipper, routed them through the UPS system, loaded it on the truck, and sent it out for delivery. How does UPS accept packages that are far below the weight of the maximum shipping weight and decide "Nah, we're not going to deliver this. It's too heavy"?

There seems to be no way possible to talk to a human. Can't talk to one on the phone, can't talk to on on their online chat, can't talk to them through social media.

It's now Sunday and I needed this inventory for today but I can't figure out how to get my packages that I need or I'll lose out on sales of these items.

Our normal driver is great but the drivers that deliver on his days off are absolutely awful.

r/upsstore on Reddit: Are there packages size and weight limits, and what would you do in this situation?
April 7, 2024 -

If anybody could offer some advice I'd be super appreciative. I bought a 6 chair 1 table patio set from Temu. They sent it in 2 boxes size and weights in pictures above. I decided to return it because it's such a bad quality. They said returns are ok in original packaging, cool. But then they only issued 1 return label. When I reached out they told me that I need to get a box to put both boxes in together. By my calculations that would need to be a 72"x33"x 18.5" box and would weigh about 150 lbs. Would you even take that at the UPS store? Where do I even get a box that size?

They also said that if UPS wouldn't take a box that big I could pay for the second box to be shipped, and they would reimburse me later. I've never dealt with Temu before, and idk if I can trust that. I tried google searching for any similar issues hoping I could gleen some advice from others experiences, but couldn't find anything, so I figured I'd ask you awesome folks if you know how I should handle it. I don't want to cause any headaches or backaches for the people my local UPS store, and I don't want to haul these boxes over there just to find out they can't take them.

Thanks y'all.

r/UPS on Reddit: How are packages over 70 pounds labeled?
November 23, 2023 -

At my site, I had to shift plenty of unbearably heavy packages from one conveyor belt to another, and they were all marked "H." I didn't check their weights because I was rushing to get everything on the belt, but they had to be more than 70 pounds each. I would have crushed my foot with one of those packages if I wasn't wearing steel-toed boots. I thought that the weight limit on UPS items was only 70 pounds, and that's what I signed up for. Please tell me that those "H" packages aren't all 70 pounds, because I feel like a pathetic weakling.

r/UPS on Reddit: UPS charged me $100 extra by changing my box from 48” to 49”… anyone else deal with this?
March 28, 2026 -

I shipped a UPS Ground package that was 48 x 6 x 6 and about 11.5 lbs, entered exactly like that when I bought the label. Now I got hit with a $97.11 adjustment because UPS “audited” it as 49 x 7 x 7 and billed it at 40 lbs dimensional weight.

That extra inch pushed it over their 48” limit and triggered an additional handling fee plus higher charges. The thing is, my box is actually 48 inches; I even have proof. I bought the box from ULINE and it even shows the dimensions on the dang box!!

So it feels like either their system rounded it up or they just overcharged me. I’m going to dispute it, but has anyone actually had success getting these reversed? Or do they usually just deny it?

r/UPS on Reddit: UPS Delivery Too Heavy???
August 21, 2020 -

Hello. I ordered a generator from Amazon which was supposed to be delivered yesterday. I got a notification that the UPS driver came at 1:17 but couldn't deliver because no one was home. Well, I was sitting at my desk which looks right out to our front door at 1:17, no truck pulled in. Plus, I selected the option that no one needed to be home to deliver the package. After unsuccessful attempts to reach UPS, I called Amazon who then connected me to someone at UPS. They said the driver didn't know which apartment to deliver to because there was no number listed. I live in a very obvious single-family house in the middle of the woods. I was then told they'd deliver this morning. Well, I just got a call from UPS saying they can't deliver because the package weighs over 200 pounds and I'll have to drive over an hour to pick it up. I paid extra to have it delivered to my house and I don't have a vehicle large enough to drive down to pick it up.

I'm going to try calling Amazon again but my question is this: I feel like they just keep making up reasons to not deliver the package- is there some legitimacy to their claim that they don't deliver packages over 200 pounds? Why would Amazon send something that heavy via UPS if they truly in fact cannot deliver something that weighs that much? Thanks for any help!
