So, i’m finally giving up on my old chromecast that keeps disconnecting and getting an apple tv. All my other devices are apple so it should be good. Tried to research but can’t come to a conclusion.
I don’t even have a 4k tv. An old lg, works for me. I just want something that works and would probably work for a long time. Streaming services and
I see couple 4k 1st gen in my area, is it a good device? Buying one isn’t a high priority rn as i have other expenses but i need to get one at some point, trying to figure out differences in the models too hard to find the right info.

Kind of echoing others’ sentiments here that the fourth generation is really the oldest you should get. I would caution against getting the HD, though, even if you don’t have a 4K display for it. The HD had the A8 chip, 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, and a quad-core GPU while the 4K had the A10X chip, 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and a 12-core GPU. The 4K will outperform the HD, even when only displaying HD content. It also has Bluetooth 5.0 instead of Bluetooth 4.0 and gigabit Ethernet rather than 10/100BASE-T, so just all-around better connectivity as well. Model number A1842. More on reddit.com

August 4, 2023 - I was shopping used until I realized 4K 3rd gen is $109 refurbed at Apple. Then Costco had it on sale for $99. Got two. These only have the Apple logo on top, no "TV". I've been using various streaming devices for years. As content got more complicated, it quickly revealed limits of older hardware.
