Some people I know are militant about staying within that hour and others say that’s the “available after” time and you can go later in the day. If you don’t order any refrigerated/frozen foods, you will sometimes be given a ’pickup available after’ option, and they will hold your order for a couple days before cancelling. If you are ordering perishables, you select an hour window to schedule your pickup. This scheduling helps the in-store pick team to schedule when they pick your order from the shelves and helps with traffic flow for customers. Also, the pick teams aren’t given large areas to hold the orders, so they need to keep them moving to make sure they have space for more orders as they are picked throughout the day, especially for cold items. So, if you schedule a one-hour pickup window, please do your best to show up no more than 5-10 minutes late. This window is not meant to be a suggestion or a ‘pickup after’ time. You have options when you order, so always pick a time when you know you can be at the store to get your groceries. If something happens after you place your order, and you cannot make it in time, please call the store and ask to reschedule, otherwise your order may be cancelled.

I've never used store pickup but I see an Xbox bundle and it says in stock at my local store. I pay and it says they'll hold it for up to 4 days. The order confirmation tells me to go to the store, pull into a spot and tell them when I'm there. I do that this morning (ordered at 9pm last night) and no one ever comes out to the car. I wait then all of a sudden I get an email that the item is unavailable. It says they will ship for free but I have my doubts that I'll ever get it.
How does this work? Do they not put up the item once you order and pay for it online?

Your order gets picked depending on when your order is scheduled for pickup. That item is up for grabs for any customer in the store until ogp gets the pick assignment which we have no choice over whose order we pick first as it drops randomly, sometimes multiple orders in one trip. They most likely either did not have it (overstated on hand made the website think it was in stock but it wasn’t), or someone purchased it before ogp could get to it so they had to Nil pick it. If it’s an XBox bundle for a decent price it could go quickly.
