Used to work for Wal Mart. When home office says “purge” something, this is what happens. Sometimes store managers get a bug up their ass about getting something out NOW (i.e. assembled display grills in September, or Christmas trees in January) and they’ll put a stupid low price on it. My buddy and I each got $400 grills last year for $50 each. All assembled, that sat as displays for the summer. So long as you don’t mind half the town having opened and closing it, there’s nothing wrong with it. What likely happened here is home office sent markdowns out to certain locations either in anticipation of not carrying them anymore, OR, we can expect to see new ones coming out soon. 4k tv’s been out for so long and it’s a common tv to get, OLED tv’s are expensive but will get cheap in later years and the same with 8K tv’s but that won’t be cheap for another 10-15 years More on reddit.com

When I was a department manager, I refused to put up signs like this. My favorite ones though, were ones that came in as "Clearance" or "Markdown" that were HIGHER than before. I would change the price but cut out the part that stupidly claimed to be a discount of any sort. I haven't shopped in any Walmart since I quit in 2017, good to see they're still doing stupid shit.
