Wix vs. WordPress: Which is the better website builder? | Webflow Blog
October 24, 2025 - Webflow stands out from WordPress and Wix by offering greater design flexibility and control.
Why would somebody choose webflow over wordpress or wix?
Basically if used correctly, Webflow has the advantage of writing your own html/css (and a little bit of js if) in a visual editor. They try to market themselves as a "drag and drop" thing, but if you're looking for that, Webflow is not the best choice. More on reddit.com

Webflow vs Wix
Used Wix when I initially got into web design back in 2012. I would suggest it to someone with zero experience who wants to use a template and have a really easy time controlling a website. I would describe it as "websites for dummies". It's really great for basic functions and has a really intuitive interface. But once you get past basic web funtions, Wix is really limiting. Webflow on the other hand is a completely different platform in my opinion. It's got designers in mind first and foremost. I was blown away by the capabilities (I went from Wix --> Webydo ---> Webflow). It's a much larger learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, it's actually the easiest and most powerful to use. Webflow has the capability to do some pretty advanced animation and web design techniques. After using Webflow for 3 years, I'm still learning new tricks. From a designer who doesn't like using code because I'm an extremely visual person, Webflow is a dream come true. I couldn't recommend it more. The CMS on the client-side is also very very good. It's fully customizable and straightforward. My clients have found that the On-Page editing is the most convenient for them. The Collections is really easy to explain and the automation of the website is very helpful to clients who want hands off at all times when it comes to design. The slight downside to Webflow is the pricing - it is more expensive than Wix for the designer and client/host. But I find that the features are well worth it. Webflow also offers incredible templates if you need to bust out a website quickly. I may sound like a Webflow promoter, but I've just been so impressed with the platform over the years that I could gush about it a lot. More on reddit.com
WordPress vs Web Flow vs Shopify vs wix vs any other. Which one ??
Start with the business plan. Then the marketing plan. Then make a list of what you need from a web design platform. It needs to align with your plan. If you want pixel perfect designs then you may gravitate to Webflow. If you want to only use a single platform for both portfolio sites and ecommerce you may go for WordPress. If you want to specialise in ecommerce, then you might focus on Shopify. If your clients are going to manage their own site, you may opt for Squarespace. If you want to self-host: then your options are limited even more. So once you have a shortlist: you need to test them. Again, the focus is on finding a platform that aligns with your plan. You may pick multiple platforms. There isn't a single correct answer. More on reddit.com
Is Webflow better than Wix for beginners?
Wix is generally easier for beginners thanks to its drag-and-drop editor and guided setup. Webflow, while more complex, offers far more creative control and scalability, ideal for users willing to learn a bit more to achieve professional, custom designs.

Yet, if you’re an intermediate or a professional designer or developer, Webflow is clearly the better choice. All of the tools used in Wix don’t require you to write any code. You just need to select it in your dashboard and explore how they work. You can find most of the tools in the main control panel, but some specific apps and plugins are only available via the App Market.

i've taken over managing a site that uses webflow. I've built websites in wix/wordpress before without too much trouble.
For the life of me, I cannot figure out webflow. Maybe since we have had a webflow engineer for a while they've created a lot of customization/complexity. BUT literally i can't drag/drop/expand any component without wanting to bang my head against a wall.
Especially for most websites that only need to display information (as with ours SaaS landing pages) why would somebody looking for a simple solution go with webflow?

I think Webflow is way easier and less complex than WordPress. I don’t have to write PHP anymore. This is a good thing. No one wants to write PHP. Are they using a design system? Do you know HTML and CSS?

March 5, 2025 - From gorgeous animations to custom coding to more templates than Wix, Webflow beautifully translates what would be complex written instructions into quick visual controls. While WordPress’s included Gutenberg editor can’t stand up to the power of Webflow, the freedom to choose from a multitude of builders and supplementary tools evens the playing field into a tie, where the ultimate choice between the two boils down to the needs of your specific project, your technical know-how and your personal preferences.
