Has anyone used Google Sites to create their website?
I've used Dreamhost since 2006 and love them. But I'm a nerd-lite and coded my own websites. They have a pretty easy WordPress install that you can use to do things like you would do with Google Sites, I think. Looks like Dreamhost is having a sale for what they're calling WordPress Basic. They do offer a solid 90-day money-back guarantee, so you could try them with little risk. Not trying to sway you one way or another since I've never used Google Sites. Hope this helps. I am debating between Google Sites and Dreamhost. Google Sites seems very simple and inexpensive which I like, but I’m not sure how well it would work for linking my books to purchase.

One comment mentioned paying $20 a year for domains. That’s way more than one person should be paying, unless you’re paying for multiple extensions (.com + .net, etc.) If you go this route, I cannot recommend enough that you buy your domain separately from your host provider (ex: dreamhost). For the following reasons: It’s cheaper (Namecheap if you catch a deal can be $8 or less the first year, and $12-13-ish every year after). You get WHOIS privacy protection included with that price. Most host providers charge a couple bucks extra for that. If you ever decide you don’t like dreamhost and want to move, your domain stays yours. You don’t have to go through the trouble of transferring the domain, which is both time and money saved. It’s an extra step that will save you a ton of headache down the line.
