What distinguishes a formal fallacy from an informal one?
Formal or Informal Fallacy?
It doesn't matter. You shouldn't waste your time trying to categorize fallacies or give them names or anything like this. Your life will be better if you just ignore all of this stuff. Don't get sucked down the fallacy rabbit hole. There's nothing good down there.

Whenever I engage in an internet debate, I always keep a list of logical fallacies handy. Some may call this excessive, but this is because only true redditors understand the raw power of the fallacy.
First I ensure my post is devoid of grammatical mistakes. After all, it's clear that intelligent people don't make grammatical mistakes. I never make grammatical erors, which proves that I must be intelligent.
Next I'll systematically break down their arguments. Obviously, most people find my refutations hard to understand. But this just proves that they are infact simpletons. I always strain to remind people that the burden of proof is on them to disprove all of my exceptionally well argued claims.
After that I'll throw in a few Carl Sagan or Sam Harris quotes - giants and respected authorities in their fields. After all, if these enlightened gentlemen agree with me, I must surely be in the right!
Finally I'll check to see who I'm arguing against. If my opponent is anything but a gnostic atheist, I immediately refuse to respond. Anybody that denies the natural truth of atheism is not worth my time.
