I assume you're talking about Ahmed Mohamed, the 14-year-old who was arrested a year ago in Irving, Texas when school administrators accused him of making a fake bomb. He's living in Qatar now, and his family has launched a multimillion-dollar lawsuit against his former school district. Not long after the clock incident, Mohamed visited the White House and met President Obama . Almost immediately afterward, his family said they had accepted a full-scholarship offer from the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development for Mohamed . That involved a move, almost immediately, to Doha, Qatar, and Mohamed's family has been there for almost a year. It's less crazy than it sounds ─ Mohamed's father, Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed, was a former candidate for President of Sudan, and the family has strong ties in the Islamic world. During the furor that followed the clock incident, they traveled the world , including visits to Saudi Arabia and Qatar, where the Foundation was among the schools that offered Mohamed an education. (There were plenty in the United States that offered full-ride scholarships as well.) In an interview with the Dallas Morning News , Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed said, "We are going to move to a place where my kids can study and learn and all of them being accepted by that country.” There was also the legal issue, which is still pending. A year ago, the family filed a demand for restitution or they would sue. That lawsuit was filed last month, and Mohamed returned to Dallas, where his family hosted a press conference. The family is seeking unspecified damages , but its claim a year ago was for $15 million. Both the Mohamed family and the legal firm representing them have received some pretty nasty messages, including death threats.
