Many items on Ebay are marked as allowing returns, with the buyer paying return shipping. I always assumed this meant that the original shipping cost would be refunded-in other words, that the buyer pays only the return shipping.
But, I recently returned an item and the refund had both the original shipping and the return shipping deducted. I wound up only getting back half what I originally paid.
Was this wrong, did the seller rip me off by not refunding original shipping? If not, if I have to pay both ways, then why isn't this made clear? It should say "buyer pays all shipping costs" instead of "buyer pays return shipping." Why the ambiguous language? Why doesn't it just say exactly what happens?
I've done some searches about this I couldn't find a definitive answer. Does anyone know for sure?
Hi, I recently noticed that when buyer wants to return an item, when refunding the buyer, I have to refund the shipping cost as well. I do not get returns often, but as I remember sometime ago you would only need to refund the items price, right? Doesn't seem really fair when my main sales are abroad, shipping is more expensive and if I get returns I get a quite financial loss. Was it like that always? What do you do? Thanks.
Hi all, I made a first purchase on eBay last week. The item is coming from the US to Canada which is worth around $400 CAD. I happened to find a better deal locally a couple of days later and want to chase it. Can anyone explain how eBay return works for buyers? I've been reading docs and contacted customer service, but still not crystal clear enough - too much confusion with having to consider the seller for returns.
I looked at the original posting, and it says "Sent through eBay International Shipping", "30 days return. Buyer pays for return shipping. If you use an eBay shipping label, it will be deducted from your refund amount.", and "eBay Money Back Guarantee".
I understand that the return shipping will be paid by me as the posting says, and because it's a remorse return. What I'm not sure is that if I'm eligible to return - Some articles on the internet saying that seller can reject the return, and some other article says seller is not involved in return since it's through EIS. I also asked customer service, and they said something like they'll need to contact sellers if I can return the item.
I'm too confused. Any experts out there can clarify this?
