You need to transfer your domain to a registrar that provides Whois privacy. For that to work, the registrar must support your top level domain, and you must unlock the domain before transfer. However, be aware that if whois privacy isn't used from the start, and when the domain was registered, your whois data, including the ttansfer, can be looked up via domain history. To be protected 100%, I would dump the domain, and register a new one with a registrar that provides Whois privacy. Namecheap does it for free. More on reddit.com

Simples. When you do a whois lookup, you are viewing the record of what is configured at the root (or rather, GTLD) servers for that domain. When you do a dig, it is querying the domains own nameservers for the NS records - which in the case of whatever domain you are looking at, have been configured differently. In all liklihood, the owner of the domain added the third DNS server to the zone which is held on ns1.blah.com, ns2.blah.com and probably ns1.something.com, but then did not log into his domain's control panel and add ns1.something.com as a name server for that domain. Try using "dig +trace" to see the full flow of how it got the answer you're seeing. Edit: To elaborate - DNS works by querying the root servers. So when you do "dig example.com ns", it goes and queries the root servers, and gets an answer of ns1.blah.com and ns2.blah.com, per the whois records. It then goes and asks one of ns1/ns2.blah.com for the NS records for example.com. The blah.com nameservers look at their configuration which includes the additional NS record, and responds with those. Edit 2: To elaborate - the whois record shows what is configured at the root servers. So the full sequence of DNS queries for your dig would be: -> Ask root servers who has example.com's NS records. <- Root servers respond with the servers for .com -> Ask .com servers who has example.com's NS records. <- .com servers respond with the on-record NS records for example.com, *.blah.com -> Ask *.blah.com who has example.com's NS records. <- *.blah.com is authoritive, so it responds with it's configured records which includes the additional ns1.something.com More on reddit.com
