For fans of LEGO Jurassic World, or even 2012’s Dino theme, this set is actually pretty good value. For the RRP of AU$150/US$99.99 considering you get two large dinosaurs, the price is actually very fair, even if it is a 500-piece set. Let’s not kid ourselves, anyone who is considering this set is buying this for the Indominus Rex and Ankylosaurus.

I also like the unusual triangular shape of the compound – it would have been easy to ape Set 5887 Dino Defense HQ and serve up another rectangular compound, so LEGO deserve credit for coming up with something a little different. On the flipside, the area inside the compound is pretty cramped, so much so that the Indominus Rex dinosaur can barely fit into it; some might therefore argue that the triangular compound is a triumph of form over function, and I suppose they’d have a point...

Hello! I picked up a bulk lot of Lego on Facebook marketplace awhile back, and this guy was inside, missing only the end portion of the tail. I bought a replacement on Bricklink, but the color is off… it appears to be genuine Lego when compared to my other T-Rex tails. Is there some variation to the color in this set, or was I just unlucky? Is the replacement a fake? Is mine faded? lol
