I would like to upgrade from a cheap keyboard to a Yamaha P-Series. The P-143 (currently $499) and the P-225 (currently $699) both seem like great options in my price range. I am most curious about the difference in speaker sound between the two. I do not plan to play off of external speakers. I would like to play for my family off of the built-in speakers. I have had other Yamaha products in the past and appreciate their build quality.
Any feedback on which you prefer for the money would be great. Thank you.

the 143 is the 76 note version of 145, 225 is a step above 143/145 the 143 can't connect to a triple pedal ( in a set as stand and pedal set) or the FC35 pedal both 145/225 can work with that, 225 has a sorta ballad piano which sounds warm, and a tad warmer speakers ( thats user preference and experience) hope this helps

I'd definitely skip the 145 series... I figured out why they sound so bad, they only have a 1 band speaker system. So they sound tinny and cheap, even though the build quality and the underlying sound engine is the usual Yamaha amazing. They shot themselves in the foot with this one. Sucks. If you want to save $100, compared to the 145, and get way better sound... just no triple pedal option... I'd go with the P-45 (Amazon exclusive version is called the P-71) P.S. The 145 series probably sounds the same as all the other ones with headphones. I does have less polyphony that a 225 if that matters to you. P.P.S - Don't overlook some of the Roland options (but get them from Costco so you don't pay the Roland $200 premium tax compared to other brands same level models) and Casio Privias are the bee's knees.
