I am looking to buy a digital piano and I have found a few options on the internet, these include: Roland fp-60x Roland fp-90x Yamaha p-515 Roland rd-88 Casio px s5000 Yamaha clp-725 Yamaha clp-735 Yamaha ydp-164 Out of these do any of them stand out as the best, and if you own one of these please let me know if you would recommend any one. I will be using this very frequently so I would like to make sure that it lasts.

I recommend the Yamaha CLP they have made some efforts on the quality of the speakers and I find the keyboard above all the others. You have to ask yourself the right questions. For what price I want a piano. Do I want to be able to carry it. In any case, you have to go to the store to try and choose.

I’ve got the Yamaha P-125, I know it’s not on your list but I’ve been playing it for over a year now with now with no issues at all. The action feels nice to the touch, although I don’t know how it stacks up against an acoustic piano as I’ve never played one. The sound is fine for me - 99% of the time I play with Audio Technica headphones on but the speakers sound perfectly adequate to me. It also looks nice with the Yamaha wooden stand and a proper piano stool.

I was wondering if the Yamaha YDP-103 was a good beginning piano. I’ve been considering other choices but there’s a bundle in Costco, including a stand and bench, going for $899 CAD ($691 USD). I plan to take piano seriously and have also decided to take lessons in the near future. I’m also not really sure what all the details of the piano really mean either.

It's not bad, but understand that it's an entry level piano. I suggest going to look at it, hearing what it sounds like, and maybe playing it if you can (even if it's just button bashing). Also watch some reviews on YouTube. It really is nothing more than a better looking (although that's subjective) keyboard style DP, like the P-125. I think the P-125 also has a better sound, the sound on that Arius is really dated. Two alternatives would be either the Casio PX-780 or the Casio PX-350 , both of which have better keyboard actions (the Arius has two sensors per key, the Casios have three, which means it'll be able to pick up more finer movement quicker and accurately. So it's great for repetition). Both Casios have a higher polyphony level, which is good. It's a shame that the Yamaha price is what it is, it's really not worth it if you ask me. You are essentially sacrificing looks for features if you get it.

Hi all,

Can someone tell me more about the Roland pianos on sale at Costco currently? There are three I am looking at:

FRP Nuvola $599 on sale

They all appear to be bundles and include the same things, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Since they are Costco specific models, it's been hard to find good information on these. Also, I'd like to know the technical differences between these as well as how they sound and play. Many thanks!

I'd be curious about the keyboard feel more than anything else. Have been playing on a KR-15 mini-grand for many years and have yet to see or hear a mass-produced instrument that comes as close to feeling and sounding like a decent acoustic piano.

Kawai ES60 is the way to go
