r/computer on Reddit: Is there a way to set up a live stream video on youtube without turning my computer on 24/7?
March 5, 2023 -
I want to run a live bird camera feed 24/7 in my backyard. Is there a possible way of setting up a live camera feed on youtube without having to turn on my computer 24/7? Is there any camera that can support this?
For now I am only able to find videos on how to set up OBS to live stream but no videos on how to set up a live cam without needing to turn on the computer 24/7

You would need to keep the computer on 24/7. What prevents you from doing so? Periodic blackouts? Computers are designed to be able to run continuously -- in fact, you're never really supposed to turn your computer off, so that Windows can update itself automatically whenever it detects you're not using it (typically around 1 to 5 AM)

Raspberry pi or similar might do the job - low power consumption, small size, and separate from main pc so would not jnterfere with it
