AMD reveals key details about its upcoming hybrid APUs
July 26, 2023 - According to various leakers, this Phoenix 2 chip would have two Zen 4 cores and four Zen 4c cores for six total and would see use in the Ryzen 3 7440U. Ever the rumor skeptic, I wanted to know whether the rumor was true or not, so I asked AMD, ...

AMD Phoenix 2 APU With Hybrid Zen 4 & Zen 4C Cores Smiles For The Camera In New Die Shots
September 11, 2023 - We have previously seen pictures of the AMD Phoenix 2 APUs, notably the Ryzen 5 7540U & Ryzen 3 7440U, but the die shots go a little more in-depth on the design of these chips. The die shot can be seen showing that AMD will equip a large L3 cache, coupled with a 2+4 (Zen 4 / Zen 4C) combo.
AMD's Phoenix 1 and Phoenix 2 APUs Differ in PCIe Lane Count, Affects NVMe Drive Performance and GPU PCIe Lane Count
Yup. Less for more on the low end is their new MO. The 8500G essentially exists to sell 6 cores to people that don't need them. Meanwhile Intel is still giving 20 lanes on their sub $100 dual core. More on reddit.com

What does phoenix 2-family cpu mean?
"Phoenix 2" refers to Ryzen 8000. It's telling you that if you use a Ryzen 8000 CPU, the second M.2 slot is disabled (but the first one is fine). Just get a 7600, 7600X, or 9600X. Only slightly more expensive but much better. More on reddit.com

AMD Phoenix 2 CPU Die Shot Seemingly Shows Zen 4, Zen 4c Cores | Tom's Hardware
September 9, 2023 - The APU is expected to be the younger brother of AMD’s Phoenix and will sit below these parts in the Ryzen lineup. The supposed Phoenix 2 processor die shot clearly shows a large L3 cache (in the middle of the left side, green structures), two high-performance Zen 4 cores (below the L3 cache), four smaller Zen 4c cores (three above L3, one to the right of Zen 2 cores), and a large built-in GPU (on the right side).

I'm sure [reckless150681]( https://www.reddit.com/user/reckless150681/ ) knows alot more than I do about this stuff, but I was planning on using the MSI Pro B650-P mobo with the Ryzen 5 8500G until I saw in the mobo [spec]( https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-B650-P-WIFI/Specification ) the statement **The M2_2 slot will be unavailable when using Ryzen™ 8500/ 8300 Series processor**. It didn't mention the other Ryzen 8000 CPUs. I asked Google *Which Ryzen CPUs use Phoenix 2*, and I landed here; and here [AMD's Phoenix 1 and Phoenix 2 APUs Differ in PCIe Lane Count, Affects NVMe Drive Performance and GPU PCIe Lane Count - TechPowerUp]( https://www.techpowerup.com/317997/amds-phoenix-1-and-phoenix-2-apus-differ-in-pcie-lane-count-affects-nvme-drive-performance-and-gpu-pcie-lane-count ); and on the Wikipedia [article on Ryzen CPUs]( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Ryzen_processors ), which says *Phoenix 2* is the codename for *Zen 4c cores*, and they list the 8000 series models which use those cores (8500G, 8500GE, 8300G, 8300GE), and the models which don't (8700G, PRO 8700GE, 8600G, PRO 8600GE, 8500G, and 8500GE).
