Hey guys I just put together a pc with a 5600x and 3070 in an asus prime b550m-a wifi motherboard and I’m having issues doing a bios update for the 5000 series cpu, I also built one yesterday with a 5600x but in a aorus elite wifi X570 and it had the bios flash button so I was able to update the bios using that but the b550 doesn’t have a button. Any advise is appreciated I don’t want to have to put a 3000 series in to update the bios.
I’m currently running an ASUS PRIME B550M-A WIFI II with a Ryzen 7 5700G and an RX 9060 XT 8GB.
My RAM kit is Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2×16GB) DDR4-3200 CL16
(CMK32GX4M2E3200C16).
I’m on BIOS 3621 (from last year) and I’ve been running a stable manual RAM OC at:
-
3600 MT/s
-
CL18-21-21-40
-
1.38 V DRAM
-
SOC / other voltages left on Auto
The system is fully stable (no WHEA errors, no crashes).
ASUS just released BIOS 3636 today, with the only changelog being:
I know BIOS updates can sometimes change AGESA and memory training, so my main concern is whether updating could affect a known-good RAM OC.
There were also two BIOS versions between 3621 and 3636 (3631 and 3634), which updated AGESA to ComboV2 PI 1.2.0.F and included security updates**.**
Hey there,
Yesterday I updated the BIOS of my Prime B550M-A (WI-FI) to the version 1203, I would like to know if I update to the newest stable version, 1401, I would "lock" my processor and I would need to substitute my brand new Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen Gen 3 (5000 series), is my thinking correct or not? I couldn't find any confirmation on the description on the site and saw some videos on YT saying to take care about updating it.
Thanks you all in advance!
For anyone who still has this issue (2024):
- Download ASUS Armoury Crate. (ASUS Software Manager)
- Create an ASUS Account and register your motherboard using the serial number on the box.
- Using the Armoury application, download all the recommended drivers.
- Restart Computer.
This is what fixed it for me!
I also updated to the latest version of Windows 11.
Good luck and happy many hours of troubleshooting!
Hi Robinson, thank you for helping.
Attached is the screenshots you have requested.
I have also attached a screenshot of the event viewer if it helps....
UPDATE: I have resolve the issue. I have looked up the hardware ID online it was a RealTek 8852BE Wireless LAN WiFi 6 PCI-E NIC which I downloaded online and now works :D
Thanks a lot for your help
Greetings, I'm currently upgrading my build:
i5-4460. Asus H81M-A. Corsair Vengeance 1x8gb DDR3-1300, Kingston A400 480gb SSD. Gigabyte GV-RX 570 4gb. Corsair CX450M 80+ Bronze and replacing with:
Amd Ryzen 5 5600, Asus Prime B550M-A AC AM4, Kingston FURY Beast 2x8gb DDR4 3200Mhz, Kingston NV2 1TB, PowerColor Fighter Radeon Rx 6600 8gb
Do I need a 3000 series cpu to update bios or will the 5000 series cpu allow me to enter bios settings to update it via usb flash?
My gpu is in shipping and I'd like to test and see the system post or return any faulty equipment within the allotted time provided by seller. My concern is putting it together in vain.
I watched couple vids that left me with doubts and I CBA watching more due to lack of time I'm hecking losing sleep at this point on my days off work. so would like some input please and thanks in advance. Forgive me if this a dumb question. A simple yes/no will suffice.
