I am receiving the error message "BIOS update failed as password is not configured. Please configure the BIOS password in settings and retry" on one of the dozen Precision 3571's I have in my environment. This is the 1.15.0 version released July 11, 2023. I have 5 other models in production, about 140 computers in total. I'd hate to have to set a BIOS password on every single one of these just to get a BIOS upgrade if this appears for other models as well...
Is there anyone running into this lately? Any workaround? I've tried using SupportAssist, Dell Command | Update and manually tried to install the BIOS update.

In command prompt is said it successfully set up a temp user. I rebooted and it has the same pin error with my regular Windows name and login. No temp user option.
This is so frustrating.
Will this happen with every BIOS update?
I think I need to reload my whole Windows 11 system. I don't want to have to lose everything with each update.
Option 1 is not an Option
Option 2 doesn't work. It won't connect to Internet
Option 3 I typed in the first line, hit enter and it said operation completed successfully. Entered the 2nd line of reg delete and it says "error: system unable to find the specified registry key or value"
Option 4 for whatever reason is not giving me an option prior to the update.. Likely because a second update occurred today for something else despite me being unable to log into my computer.
Hello, this is Emily.
There are two issues to solve here. First, you need to figure out the Microsoft account password, whether by remembering it, or resetting it (we will get to that). Then it is just a matter of resetting your PIN, or force the password option to come up on the computer, so you can log in using password instead of PIN.
============
To address the password reset issue - it is very common sometimes text messages don't come through, but such issue is typically temporary due to communication issue between providers. You can try again later, or click on "show me more verification method", to see if you might have left a different contact method, such as an alternative email address, etc.
If you try a different time/day, and it still doesn't work, on the page asking you to enter your code, you can click "show more verification methods" , then select "I don't have any of those." This will start the process of adding another contact method. The only challenge is that it will require a 30-day wait before this change goes into effect. This 30-day waiting policy is intended to protect users whose contact information has been changed by someone else so that they have enough time to reverse the change. This is a security policy that no one can bypass unfortunately.

Once you have the password reset, you can then try to reset your PIN, or use the following method to bring up the password sign in option instead of using PIN, and set up PIN later in Windows Settings.
On the sign in page you are stuck on, click on the power icon on the lower right, hold down Shift key while you choose the restart option. This should boot the computer into WinRe environment.
Now, choose Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt.
In the command prompt window, type in "regedit" to launch the Registry Editor.
In the Registry Editor, select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Now on the menu bar, click on File > Load Hive.
In the pop up file selection window, go to This PC > C: drive > Windows > System32 > Config > Software. (Very imporant, it is C drive, not X drive). This should trigger a pop up box. Please enter "1234" for the Keyname.
Back to the Registry Editor, Go to this path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\1234\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\PasswordLess\Device
Now on the right pane double click on "DevicePasswordBuildVersion", and change the data to 0.
You can now restart the computer. And you will now find the "sign in options" to click on, and choose Sign in with Microsoft account, and please use the same Microsoft account you had been using and its credential to sign in.
Unfortunately no access to data either, unless you remember your password.
Sorry, I take no joy telling you this.
For the language sign issue, adding another language will work since that's what worked for me. Or go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Turn system icons ON or OFF > turn ON Input indicator.
First step was trying Admin ond then other passwords of my account, but nothing worked.
