I'm getting a i5 12600k for gaming. I'm not sure how much to spend on a motherboard. Also is there any performance advantage of getting a z690 over b660? Thanks.
I was browsing reddit the other day about PC building and stuff. And I came across a post about building a PC for a specific game. What caught my attention was one of the replies. "Your motherboard should never, ever, ever be more expensive than your CPU"
i.e the post creator wanted to match an MSI Z670 PRO with an i5 13400F.
Can anyone explain to me the truth about that saying. Is it relevant, or some old days beliefs..
I am going to build a PC myself and I don't want to waste my money, even better invest it in maybe a more powerful graphics card or PSU etc..
