r/GamingLaptops on Reddit: Accessing Lenovo Ideapad gaming 3 15ACH6 Advanced BIOS options
February 17, 2023 -

Lenovo has been notorious of not allowing users to access advance bios settings, but recently I have found a way to access this options in the bios menu. I have only tested this on Lenovo Ideapad gaming 3 15ACH6. Steps are as follow:Step 1: Turn off you laptop completelyStep 2 : Press the power button to turn onStep 3 : Spam F2 to enter BIOS menuStep 4 : After entering BIOS, DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING EXCEPT THE FOLLOWING KEYS : Press Fn+R+N for 3 times.Step 5 : Press F10, then enter to save and exitStep 6 : Spam F2 again until you are in BIOSStep 7 : You should now see some hidden options, Enjoy!

WARNING: By doing this, you *may* void your warranty or damage your hardware. Make sure you know what you are doing before changing anything within the BIOS. I soft bricked my laptop twice when messing with the options. I am not responsible for any damage cause by accessing the advance optionsPersonally I only changes the cpu power profile to the 54W profile, along with the use of AATU(aka UXTU) I managed to increase the performance by quite a bit. CinebenchR23 score before tweaking was 8906, but after tweaking the score increased to 11233 while maintaining <95℃. There are options for RAM speed but I didnt use those because I am not familiar with them. I really dont understand why Lenovo have to limit this laptop so much and not give us any easy option to boost the performance, there are plenty of thermal headroom in this machine. And total power isnt a problem as the cpu can run at 50W with gpu at 90W for over 10 minutes without any problem(no throttling no thermal problem). Lenovo why?Credit : I saw this method from https://youtu.be/mmd4Sc5bVcIAATU/UXTU : https://github.com/JamesCJ60/Universal-x86-Tuning-Utility

r/Lenovo on Reddit: LENOVO IDEAPAD GAMING 3 15ACH6 BIOS FIX
July 31, 2022 -

LENOVO IDEAPAD GAMING 3 15ACH6 BIOS FIX SOLUTIONS:

if you updated this model to the July BIOS update, which bricks your laptop, then you came to the right place.

Sorry if my english is broken, I found a repair; i did it myself, even if my laptop is still in warranty lol. if your bios is bricked:

WARNING: THIS IS FOR IDEAPAD GAMING 3 15ACH6 ONLY!!

So i assume your laptop is now in black screen yeah? the keyboard light is on and even if you press caps lock, nothing happens, only turning off keyboard lights on and off works.
so here's the solution:
1: power off your computer and unplug the charger
2: download these files that i upload from google drive:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1D5C8uHLPyN3WgxdnmmlqqRjVj3NPl_Yf?usp=sharing
3: grab a pendrive, format it to FAT32, put the downloaded files in the pendrive (find a working computer)
4: Plug the pendrive into the bricked laptop (Make sure the laptop is turned off)
5: Now this is the crucial step: hold (fn + r), plug the charger and turn the laptop on ( MAKE SURE YOU STILL HOLDING THE FN+R ), you will notice the power button is not lit, but the keyboards are, if you hear the fans kicking high and constant loud beeps then it means the recovery process starts (if not, try again). Release the FN+ R if you hear that. Don't freak out about the beeps and the fans going high, and do not power off or touch anything, the recovery process might take longer than expected. After the recovery process finished, your laptop will automatically shut down and reboots. if not, power on it manually. Your laptop will boot normally again.

Now for the explanation how these works:

As you can see, the specific motherboard name for this model ideapad gaming 15ACH6 is GOG20, how did i find it? I just searched the replacement parts of the motherboard and it says GOG20, so i went and dig up the lenovo website of the old bios ( the version that in the google drive is H3CN30WW i think, then i extracted the bios and found the .ROM file, renamed it to GOG20, GOG20A, or GOG20B (i made duplicates as you can see to try different combinations of correct ROM file name that the BIOS Recovery can read) , i dont know which one is correct, but as soon as i hear fans kicking out loud and beeps, i think it means the laptop recognizes one of the correct files in the pendrive, and yeah my laptop boots normally. Don't worry about downloading all of those combinations that i uploaded, just put all in the pendrive and do the steps, eventually the laptop will recognize the correct one and start the process.

One week later, i realized that lenovo pulled out the latest BIOS update from their website (July i think?), as i saw from the website today the latest one is H3CN32WW which released on March 16 2022. Maybe they thought the July BIOS isn't working. As far as i know, The march bios is the one that works, safe and latest for now. You can download that if you want to update.

September 23, 2022 -

Hi, I've bought an Ideapad gaming 3 that had windows 11 preinstalled, after entering the bios to check some things because I have battery drain while playing certain games, I saw that the version actually installed is H3CN31WW (V2.01). On the Lenovo site there is what I suppose is a newer version of the bios H3CN32WW (V2.02) but it says that it's for win 10. So my question is: should I try upgrading the bios or wait for a win 11 version?

r/Lenovo on Reddit: Older version of BIOS for Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 15ACH6 (Type 82K2)
March 29, 2024 -

Hi, been using this laptop for about 2 years now and the laptop was working fine untill the BIOS update from 6th February (version H3CN46WW) (installed via Lenovo Vantage), the battery started acting wierd. Considering I use my laptop plugged in about 97% of the time, the laptop remains at 100% battery all the time, but after the BIOS update, when the laptop is used on battery, the laptop runs fine for a while (1-2 minutes) and then it suddenly shows the low battery message and shuts off immediately. The laptop then refuses to turn on and the power button just flashes 3 times. After plugging the charger, the battery doesnt charge above 0% but unplugging and plugging again makes the battery shoot to a 100 instantly and then the battery drains normally. After a few days the laptop just completely gave up on charging as the charge was just stuck at 0 and refused to charge at all even after using the previous method that I used to charge. I had my suspicions about the BIOS and knew that the battery itself was fine (checked battery health using multiple tests), so I tried re-flashing the current BIOS and somehow that fixed it.. for a while.

The laptop is now the doing the same thing and again I tried re-flashing the BIOS but that didn't do it this time. Therefore, I wanna downgrade the BIOS version since I'm not sure when the next version will come out and this problem is seriously hindering my ability to use the laptop without the charger. Can anyone provide me an older version of the BIOS for my model? It seems there is some bug in the current BIOS (version H3CN46WW) that prevents my laptop from functioning optimally.

Thanks

MAJOR UPDATE:

Finally found a fix that has lasted for about a week and will continue to be so ..

Apparently my suspicions were correct and it was a BIOS problem .. after having re-flashing the same BIOS version, the battery started working normally for 2 days and started showing the same problems again after .. then after a long wait .. a very helpful redditor (Thank You u/Sensitive-Guard2599 !) found me an official link to the older BIOS version straight from Lenovo .. after waiting for the battery to get charged up after a long while .. I downgraded the BIOS and voila ! It now is working normally and is stable so far (fingers crossed) . Having downgraded from H3CN46WW to H3CN45WW fixed the problem for me !

If anyone requires the direct link to this specific BIOS version (It isn't directly accessible via Lenovo) .. let me know via PM .. I'll either respond directly or add the link to this post itself.

LATEST UPDATE REGARDING THIS ISSUE:

Since the last update to this post, I created another post which I have been more active on. Whoever needs the BIOS and more details (spoiler alert, the fix didn't last), can check that post out, here's the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Lenovo/s/ZdKH8hsyj3

Anyone knows what should I name the bios file? Those are the name I've found after extracting the bios.exe from Lenovo website. After some research I've found that the bord name is GOG20? Where did GOG20305 came from😅? Maybe the same bips version is compatible with many laptops right? Anyway I'm thinking of adding other name like GOG20.bin isflash.fd is flash.bin Any problem with that? I know that the files in the screenshot are from official Lenovo website but I feel like there's something wrong. Any advice? Another question could anyone explain how the recovery mode works exactly in Lenovo laptops(not how to do it).

r/pcmasterrace on Reddit: Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 15ACH6 Hybrid Graphics safe to disable from BIOS?
April 30, 2024 -

Hey guys, I'm using this gaming laptop I mentioned in the title and my iGPU is eating up 2GBs of my ram. I was wondering if it's safe to "play" with the BIOS settings to disable it and let the dedicated GPU work on its own (RTX 3050 Ti).

These settings can be found in the hidden advanced BIOS for Lenovo.

My laptop model does not have a MUX switch so I can't use the Lenovo Vantage app to disable Hybrid mode from there.

Bios: EGCN36WW
(Had seen an newer version, 40ww on support.lenovo.com, but Vantage doesn't seem to recommend it when searching for updates)

I had read somewhere on the net that there are power saving options that maybe available in the advanced bios. Planning to take a look at the options and try them if they are safe.

I have tried the Fn + R+ N (x3) option after pressing F2(ending up in the screen with the option to change the boot order of drives). Have also tried it after clicking on more settings there and entering the bios settings.

Thanks in advance.

If the methods floating around the internet don't work, it's likely the option is disabled on your model. Most Lenovo laptops have it disabled. As for power saving options, you're better off using Throttlestop to change your power targets and boost behaviour or something like QuickCPU to modify your Windows power plan settings. Do your research before you attempt either method.

Hi, u/Ashenthen . We apologize for the delayed response. Here's the link on how to go to BIOS https://lnv.gy/43v3Y8o If you have the BIOS version updated (to update BIOS, download it using this link: https://lnv.gy/43vk7ea ) and see that there is no option for advanced bios settings, then it means that it is not meant for users so it is not available for access as intended. Your machine's BIOS is a standard BIOS for consumers, hence, there is no option at all nor any kind of configuration that you can access any advanced tab. In your case, there are no advance BIOS settings. However, If you still wish to proceed o have advanced BIOS settings. You need to get these instructions from a 3rd party website like the ones discussed in the Community Forums as using a modeled BIOS will void your warranty. We do not support BIOS configuration for the advance option. You may view this link for instructions https://lnv.gy/3OYc2tM If you are after power-saving options, Aside from Battery conservation mode in Lenovo Vantage. You may try this guide as well https://lnv.gy/42yB31L . Hope this helps. You can message us anytime if you have any other issues. Thanks! Kate_Lenovo

r/techsupport on Reddit: Issues with Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6
March 24, 2026 -

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5500h with Radeon Graphics

Storage: NVME SSD 512GB

RAM: 16GB DDR4

dGPU: Nvidia 2050 RTX 4GB

Basically, this new computer I got is almost unusable. I am hoping that I am missing something and maybe someone can help me.

I am gaming on it with Ultra Quality Settings utilizing 100% of the dGPU and it didn't even stutter.

1. Core Symptoms (That inclined me towards Hardware-Level Failures)

  • Web Browsing: Consistent Aw, Snap! crashes in all Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge). Error codes include STATUS_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION and STATUS_INVALID_IMAGE_HASH. Tabs crash in Firefox as well but not as persistently as chrome based browsers.

  • Multi-Tasking Failure: Single YouTube tabs may load, but opening a second simultaneous video stream triggers immediate tab crashes or system instability. This symptom just appears occasionally on Firefox.

  • Visual Artifacts: Images and videos frequently display hardware-accelerated decoding artifacts (distorted green and violet blurred lines).

  • Network/Security Errors: Frequent ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR and handshake failures on secure sites, indicating packets are being corrupted in transit through the RAM/Network stack. Even sites that work need a refresh or a hard refresh.

  • File System Corruption: Installation of Electron-based apps (e.g., VS Code, Java Code Pack) fails with "Invalid package config" errors, indicating package.json files are being corrupted during disk-write. Although, I tried testing with a game of my choosing, American Truck Simulator, and it didn't even stutter.

2. Attempted Troubleshooting

  • Operating System: Attempted to upgrade to Windows 11. The installer consistently fails/aborts during the file decompression phase, indicating checksum mismatches in RAM.

  • Virtualization: Issues persist identically within a Virtual Machine (VM) environment, ruling out host-level OS/Registry corruption.

  • Firmware: Performed a BIOS update to the latest version, followed by a BIOS Rollback to a previous stable version. Neither resolved the instruction errors.

  • Settings: Disabling "Hardware Acceleration" in browsers worsened the stability, indicating a foundational failure in the CPU/GPU rendering pipeline.

  • Browser Security: Applied --disable-features=RendererCodeIntegrity flags; the crashes persisted.

  • Updating Drivers: Clean installation of official AMD Adrenalin drivers (v31.0.21924.61) failed to resolve "OpenCL User Mode Driver" errors or the visual artifacts.

  • Windows Update: Tried to test for issues before and after complete update of drivers and whatnot, didn't make a difference.

  • Diagnosing in Safe-Mode: Problems persisted.

  • Booting into live Linux distro: An attempt to boot into Linux Mint ended with a "Kernel Panic" error, another attempt with Kaspersky Rescue Disk(Also linux btw, I think) got stuck at loading.

  • Swapping out RAMs: I started with 2x8 GB rams, I have tried with just one 16 GB stick while also swapping between slots. Didn't make a difference.

So, what might be the problem? And is it something I can fix or should I just return it?

Im trying to change base clock i wouldve posted on Lenovo forums buts the supports justs responds with

"Unfortunately the advanced BIOS menu is meant for developers and repair use.

Any discussion regarding advanced options are regarded as modification which is not supported.

Our machines are already pre configured from the factory to perform at peak performance. Any current limits set is based on the recommended and tested configurations of our engineering team."

They are lying and are just saying that so i dont turn this laptop into a gaming one. Could someone please tell me

r/laptops on Reddit: Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6 – A review and upgrade path
August 19, 2025 -

First, I’ll tell you about myself. Mainly because it could help you decide on getting the same or a similar laptop if you have similar needs to me. I’m a mechanical engineering student. Currently, I use CAD somewhat frequently for college and *very* frequently for personal use, so a dedicated GPU was pretty much necessary. A decently Good CPU was also needed for simulation work and *very* amateurish programming. Video and image editing are also hobbies of mine, but I don’t do anything extravagant so they weren’t really a deciding factor. I also love to be dramatic and firmly believe I am a professional writer. I’m not, so if you don’t like that kind of writing, I’ll leave a TL;DR at the end of this post.

So, the laptop. The IdeaPad 3 Gaming I bought comes with a wired RGB mouse I will probably not use (it’s still in its sealed bag), some very disappointing manuals and guides (I just downloaded the actual ones from Lenovo’s site) and a 135W AC charger. Internally, it has a Ryzen 5 5600H, a single 8 GB DDR4 SO-DIMM RAM clocked at 3200 MHz, one 512 GB M.2 Samsung NVMe Gen3x4 SSD (model is MZ-ALQ512B), a Nvidia RTX 3050 4GB and finally a 15.6” 1080p 120 Hz display.

I actually wanted to do this just because of this next section: Upgrades. I’ve always been a sucker for high-capacity drives, so the tiny 512 GB of space made me feel uneasy every single time I thought about my locally stored movies, TV shows, comics, games… Point is: I wanted to upgrade. Problem was: I read online that only the 2242 M.2 slot (the one with the stock SSD) could reach Gen4 speeds.

I’ve also read only that this thing would NOT work with a higher than 512 GB drive on the 2242 slot. I just ignored that and got a 2 TB Crucial P310 Gen4 drive. FUCK. YEAH.

I found it on Micro Center for sale at $149.99 USD too. This is important because my third-world mind was already going crazy inside that celestial store. I felt like I was dreaming in that GPU aisle. The custom keyboards too???? I loved every single plack-time I spent in there. My dad (we were on a business trip btw) was searching for a USB to VGA cable and they had it. WHAT. Who even needs that? Truly, an ascending and heavenly experience.

Anyways. I was very worried it wouldn’t work. I already have a fully functional 2 TB NVMe and a 1 TB SATA drive on my PC, so if this didn’t work I just wasted half my salary in something I would 100% not be able to sell at that same price. Not to mention, I still needed an adapter. This thing is 2230, and if you remember correctly, the slot only fits 2242 drives. So…

I’ll go over how good it performs now:

  • Gaming

In the very few games I tested, it was a very good experience. I mostly play only old games, so this might not mean much to you, but Bayonetta, Sonic X Shadow Generations and Rocket League ran perfectly fine. In Bayonetta’s case, it ran even better than on my desktop -$1200- gaming PC, which honestly doesn’t mean much since it barely counts as running in that system.

  • CAD

The most important thing to me. It runs flawlessly. And now, we go back to the Crucial drive! I designed the adapters using Inventor 2025 on the base laptop (as in “stock configuration”). The only problem I could name is that, for some reason, it takes Inventor like a whole minute to load the first project. Be it a fully finished model or just a blank file. It’s very weird.

After finishing the model and getting it printed, I was ready to see if my dumb ass would be enjoying two whole terabytes of data on his new laptop.

It. Worked.

I was so stupidly happy. And you know what? I haven’t mentioned that I also installed two 16 GB 3200 MHz sticks. EVERYTHING WORKED WITH NO ISSUES. It felt amazing. The trip to Micro Center, the fact that I was actually upgrading a laptop, the excitement I felt going into the Amazon Locker to retrieve my shiny new 32 gigs of RAM… Truly a wonderful experience.

After I installed Windows I decided to check both drive’s speeds, just to be sure. Another big discovery for us; 15ACH6 owners. Turns out that if you only have ONE M.2 drive installed, the drive will run at full Gen3x4 speeds. The damn manual says it runs at Gen3x2, but that is almost a complete lie. Thing is, if you install TWO NVMe drives, the speeds get halved, effectively functioning as two Gen3x2 slots. I’ll add the CrystalDiskMark results as pictures if you want to check them.

TL;DR

I’m really enjoying this laptop. It’s a very capable device. I can confirm that it supports up to 32 GB and a 2 TB NVMe drive and would recommend having just one of those installed to maximize speeds.
