r/seestar on Reddit: These are some of my better Seestar S50 Photos I have collected within the past year. If you have the time to let the telescope stare all night or several nights you can get some nice images out of it.
September 29, 2024 - First 2 Images made with the Seestar S30, Pretty fun and capable little scope! ... Someone near me must've purchased a telescope recently. There's been very few clear nights. I've resorted to finding new ways to process old data... ... Even after 3 months, I still can't believe what this telescope can do... Especially under Bortle 7 skies! ... Used two SeeStars s30 and s50.

Images I took with the Seestar s50.
Bodes galaxy, Andromeda galaxy, Orion Nebula, Crab Nebula, and Jupiter. Images rage from 5-17 minutes of exposures made up of 10 seconds exposures. No processing. Bortle 3-4 skies. More on reddit.com

ZWO seestar S50. Worth it?
I've had it for a about 3 months and I love it. It's not going to outperform a $4/5k rig and has its limitations (planetary is not much use, and the field of view isn't the widest), but for what it is and for the price, it's a great tool. You get OK jpgs from the seestar on your phone/tablet which you can edit, but then you also get a stacked FITs file (connect the seestar to a computer) that you can process in Siril or pixinsight, etc, and you can also set the seestar to save all FITs files so you can manuallly stack them and process them for more control. I highly recommend getting a tripod levelling base to use with it, and checking out Cuiv the Lazy Geek on Youtube for videos using his seestar in Tokyo. Also check out r/seestar some good user pics there. FYI you can find 3d printed bahtinov masks easily, tho as of the last updates the autofocus has been extremely good (but I still like having the mask to check/fine tune focus) More on reddit.com

SeeStar S50 captures deep space for Astro photography newbies - Photofocus
November 12, 2025 - When you are looking for what to photograph there are libraries with sample images form which to choose. I’ll only talk to the Nebula’s and Galaxies which I photographed last night. I look through the library of targets to find ones that have more interest for me. I.E. shape, form and color. Checking to see which are higher in the sky is an important step if you have light on the horizon. Software built into the SeeStar S50 has all of that information and much more.

This brings out faint details, renders colors nicely, gets rid of the noise and usually takes no more than a few minutes. Here we present a sample gallery of images that shows what can be achieved with the S50 with this minimal image processing.

So I finally managed to do some meaningful reduction of images taken with the ZWO Seestar S50. As a target I picked T CrB, it's currently at ca 10 mag V and this is a sweet spot for the S50 I guess: not too bright, not too faint. And needless to say, there is an ongoing campaign to observe this recurring nova which is expected to do its next episode of kaboom!
