Hey, I'm kinda panicking and finding it hard to go to sleep 😓. I shipped out a package at a UPS store at 9/11. The packaging, and label was done at the store. I even have the credit card total amount and even the time I was there.
I learned today, the receiver that is my sister didn't receive the package. It was overnight shipping to be arriving before 12 PM. I thought, ok let me check my UPS Choice account it should tell me why. It was empty... I checked my email and I had my sister check her own and nothing.
Ok, I thought well I left the receipt in the car, so I will just put in the tracking. The receipt wasn't there... I think I threw it out while cleaning the car in a rush but I have no recollection. I even checked my trash... I'm kind of panicking on what to do. I read without the tracking I'm simply screwed and I'm not sure what to tell my parents.

Not sure why you thought it would appear in your own UPS account. All UPS Store packages are shipped under that store's own account.

I have the name, address, tracking number of my label, and the package has left the UPS store but is lost in transit. To open a claim I need to send a copy of the drop off receipt. Can the store print me off a copy of it? It has been 30 days since dropping the item off. I tried calling the store (about a 2 hr drive away from me) but know they are always busy so hoping to get an answer here. Cheers

Nope. The receipt is convenient for your tracking purposes only and can not be reprinted even on the same day. Whoever told you that receipt was necessary to start a claim was trying to get rid of you and full of 💩. To open a claim on a missing package you need to go back to UPS with the tracking. The store can not help you any further. Whoever the shipping was billed to has to start the claim. No one in the store can do the work for you. Why didn’t you keep the receipt until the package was delivered?

We aren’t really motivated to help drop offs like this. We get $1 and usually just tolerate them. UPS should file your claim if it ever showed it was in transit and a drop off receipt isn’t really needed.

I'm forced to take a $2000 loss on an iPhone that was lost in the mail when I tried to return it. After months of contacting Apple, UPS, my bank, and even filing a police report, nothing can be done because I don't have the tracking number, and for some reason, Apple doesn't keep logs of tracking numbers either. Even though they have verified the phone has never been activated, they still refuse to refund me without a tracking number.

I don't have the tracking number, and for some reason, Apple doesn't keep logs of tracking numbers either. They absolutely, 100% do have a way to find the tracking number because it was generated on their account one way or another. Either they generated it and sent you the label, or they were charged for the shipment via a CAMS process at a return location which required associating the return with your name and some type of ID from you anyways (which would have generated a page with a serial number, which they themselves made on the phone so they do have that). They'd rather just claim it's your fault so you pay them back for the loss (because they didn't insure it). 'Cause they know you won't actually take them to court for it. If they helped you, you'd no longer have to pay them for it. Verizon has been pulling this crap too. Until somebody actually takes these companies into the courtroom over this (not just threats/complaints, literally get them in court), companies are going to continue and more companies are going to catch on. So always keep a copy of whatever you get, always get a receipt and keep it, etc.

Always take a picture of the tracking number AND KEEP YOUR SHIPPING RECEIPTS/PROOF PEOPLE!! That receipt is going to save you so much headache if the package is lost/never makes it. If you get denied your refund/replacement you show the receipt and boom you are immediately deemed non-responsible for the fuckup.
