Can 14-inch laptops support multitasking and productivity applications?
Are 14-inch laptops suitable for students and professionals alike?
Are there different configurations available for 14-inch laptops to suit different user needs?
Hello there,
I am looking to replace my wife's small laptop that's falling apart. My budget is under $400, the lower the better. I don't need a powerhouse, I just need a usable small form factor laptop. Refurbished or used is perfectly fine.
-
Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: 400
-
Are you open to refurbs/used? Yes
-
How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Small form factor please. Bettery life is good. Performance (could it play potato "World of warcraft"?)
-
How important is weight and thinness to you? Somewhat, I know budget is low though
-
Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Smaller than 15.6"
-
Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. Maybe potato WOW but not 100% necessary
-
If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? meh
-
Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? Touch screen 1080p+
-
Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.-16gb ram or ability to add another 8gb. Full PC, not Chromebook
Any suggestions on where to look?
My HP 840 G3 (i5-6300, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD) is slowly dying and i want something new. It does not have to be new, or rather it probably won't be new (i'm open to refurbs/used) but anyway.
I'm using my current laptop with a (proprietary) docking station and I like this setup very much. I saw some docking stations with usb-c and I'll probably go with one of these since i saw HP dropped the support for proprietary stattions in new laptops.
I'm looking for something around 300-400 USD. For a typical office work. But I need the touchscreen feature. 14 inch is the ideal size for me. Sometimes i want to play some older games, single players ones, fps rpg etc. My current HD 520 works but from time to time i can see some micro stuttering in some titles. (mainly hd remasters of older games).
It does not have to have much RAM or big SSD right away since I'll probably upgrade it with a bigger amount asap. So yeah, would be nice if it was upgradeable.
I was eyeing up HP 840/845 G7 and G8 since, well i'm very pleased with my current HP but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks in advance
