Lowes couldn’t find the price on 4x8 cement boards, and eventually one of the employees found a price on it for 1.89$ a sheet! They sell 3x5 cement backing board for 15$ a sheet? I don’t know how there logic makes sense but I didn’t ask questions! Just paid 90$ for 45 4x8 sheets, what a deal!
HD rang up a screen door for me one time for $0.01. I told them that was clearly wrong. I think it was supposed to be around $100.00. The cashier said "If that's what it rings up for, that's what you pay". OK. I went on my Merry way. More on reddit.com

3'x5'x0.5" durock is 35 pounds with 30 year warranty rated for interior/ exterior. Hardiebacker is slightly heavier with a limited lifetime warranty rated for interior. Just in case you go to store and see both, durock should technically hold up better and last longer due to the glass fibers, which also make it messier. Anyways durock comes out to about 2.3 pounds per sqft. So about 75 pounds for a 4x8. If you're doing a backsplash usually 3x5 will work. 4x8 if doing a surround. 75 pounds isn't terrible, but it's an inconvenient shape to man handle, as it's semi floppy at half inch, and extra floppy at 1/4, depending how you hold. Regular Half inch drywall is a little under 60 pounds for comparison. More on reddit.com

My guess is it's a holdover from when everyone did the same 60" tubs or shower stalls. Most tubs are still 60 inches long. Not sure though. More on reddit.com
