Dafoe's Revenge - a fantastic Bill Hader gem featuring his amazing impression of Willem Dafoe. (S34 E2)
Not Hader’s best work. I was hoping he’d make Dafoe look even crazier, with wilder hair, a bigger grin, and buggier eyes. Plus, why did it sound like a New York accent was slipping in there? Love Hader, he’s got some of the best impressions, but this wasn’t it. Then again, who could pull off a Dafoe impression? More on reddit.com

How did Willem Dafoe become so good at playing wild characters?
He is a founding member of a very experimental/avant garde theater company The Wooster Group for decades. They are the original downtown NYC punk rockers of theater. he also has a penis so large it confuses and scares people and they make him use a smaller prosthetic penis because nobody would really believe his penis was really that big and scary. That's gotta effect your life in amazing ways. More on reddit.com

r/movies on Reddit: Willem DaFoe is truly such an incredible actor. He elevates every movie he's in
January 25, 2025 -

I just watched The Florida Project, and his performance in that is so amazing. It's crazy how watchable he is as an actor. You're so immersed in his role and the world around him. Despite being such a well known actor, you completely accept that he's Bobby, manager of the Magic Kingdom.

There's also The Lighthouse, a movie that completely lives or dies by his performance, and he puts on a fantastic show. It's a very stage play performance, but it's so fun to watch. The curse in The Lighthouse alone is one of the greatest pieces of acting I've ever seen. Such a powerful scene.

I can't believe this man hasn't won an Oscar yet. He's a complete gift to the film industry.

1 week ago - He probably found out he was going to play Dafoe like four days prior to the sketch airing. ... Agreed, not Hader's best work. Usually, the instant he beings an impression, you can tell who it is. Even his Alan Alda is instantly recognizable, and Alda hasn't been that relevant for decades. But here, he sounds like 80% Bill Hader and 20% Willem ...
