Id say not to get the mpk mini plus because I got mine specifically because it has transport controls and ive owned this keyboard for about 3 weeks not and still even with actively searching and actively posting the question as well as even sending a support ticket to Akai i think through inmusic or whatever it is, to find out how I can map my transport controls on any of my DAW software that I use. I tried with BitWig, tried with Reason+, tried with Ableton Live and even tried with Studio One to find a way to map these transport controls and nothing works. I have even downloaded and try alot of options with mpk editor tool. Nothing works so unless someone figures out how to map it and posts online so we all can learn, get something else. I have an MPK Mini, not the plus model, but it also had awful velocity response. Worse still some of the keys stopped responding at all. The (temporary) fix is to open it up and clean all the contacts on the rubber keypad with isopropyl alcohol. It now works better — My dead keys now work again — but not perfect. I have been meaning to get a midi controller recently and I was leaning towards the m-audio oxygen pro or Arturia Minilab 3, but then I learned about the MPK mini plus. The biggest reason I was drawn to it was the CV gate. I have been meaning to dive into the world of modular synths and the Keystep doesn't have any drum pads, so I was wondering if this is a good product, as I saw many people saying it felt unfinished. Thoughts? Thank you!
P.s: I will be using it with Ableton
