When I use the app, it says "Wrong app, head over to the ally moblie app to login," but I'm in the Ally mobile app.
Logging in online won't work - they use 2-factor autentication but I never get the code on my phone. No option to send to email
Customer service takes too long to answer - It took 30 minutes to get ahold of someone
When I was able to log in on the app (after several tries) - I chatted with the rep but it took about 30 minutes for him to respond
When I asked him to change the number for the 2-factor authentication, he did. But when I log in online, it's still saying that it is sending the code to the old number.

Why is it so hard to work with this bank?

I finally talked to a rep. The company is trying to merge banking and auto so a lot of people are getting affected.

I created a new joint account with my partner (already an Ally user) last week, and cannot get in to my account. A profile was created, but once I go to login, it says "request cannot be processed." After spending some time on the phone with customer service, they transferred me to technical service, who informed me that it is a known bug with new customer logins. They are working to fix it, but have no way of notifying when it is fixed.

I am posting for two reasons - to let everyone know, if you are having this problem, you are not alone! Also, if anyone else notices that this is fixed, please let me know haha! I try to login every day but they set up a temporary password in the troubleshooting process so I might need to call in again to reset it. Thanks & happy banking!

I’m having the same issue too. I called them and they were quick which I was grateful for. But I am still unable to login. They created a case for me and said they will get back to me. I don’t know how they will contact me because when they tried to email me the reset password link, it was not coming through. I tried every known web browser on earth, still the same thing. I got recommended to it by a family member that’s why I was interested in using them, now I’m not so sure ☹️

Going through the same thing since I created my personal checking account last week! Tech department says no turnaround time for a fix so I’m in the same boat you’re in. I’m pretty patient since their call support is quick to answer and are very helpful in doing what they can, im just waiting for funds to go through so I can order my debit card — so I have to keep calling to check if it’s been deposited lol It’s only a little annoying as it seems as though there should be an easy fix for this for an online bank, their tech department should be more than capable of resolving whatever code issue went wrong…but who knows lol

is anyone else having issues with logging into their account today? I’m trying to log in on the app and on my laptop and it says my username and password is not valid….

EDIT: OKAY i’m relieved/not relieved that i’m not the only one!!! i’ve only had Ally for under a year so didn’t know this was common lol 🥲

yes... I just tried to transfer money from my "splurge" savings account to my checking to cover dinner for an early Valentine's Day. We got to the restaurant and everything and had to leave after we ordered an appetizer. I usually keep $1500 or so in my checking, but some extra expenses went through this month. I completely forgot about it until we sat down to eat :(

When I click on “Create a profile to manage your account online” (which I had done previously), I get “Choose your account type” when I click on that I get “This site can’t be reached” Has anybody experienced this? I am calling them now (18 minute wait)! OP here.. Problem solved! FYI.. So I called Tech Support. 1st level TS couldn't help. Between myself and 2nd level TS we figured it was a new VPN that I installed recently. I quit the VPN and got in to Ally with no problems.

I heard about Ally in numerous other subreddits before finally pulling the plug and opening an account back in 2020. I also was weary in the beginning and was letting analysis paralysis set in. Anyway, as far as the savings account goes, I have had nothing but good experiences. But I also don't do weird banking things like some of my peers in this sub, that tends to lead to trouble. I zelle money in and then zelle money out, or transfer if I need a larger amount. I try to keep my finances boring, I don't play around with my money. My savings account is only an emergency fund that sits there earning interest, until I need to use it, which isn't often. tl;dr: Their savings account is FDIC insured, can't go wrong with simply storing your money there and earning interest.

Wary? What are you concerned about? We can be more specific in our answers to address your hesitations. Also, when you say "for savings" are you asking about all the ways to save at Ally (Online Savings, Money Market Account, and CDs) or only specifically about the Online Savings Account?
