I am a fairly petite person (5’3” around ~115lbs) and I work as a psychologist. I sit at my computer around 5-7hrs a day (minimal typing, mostly face to face zoom call style).

By the end of the day my hips are aching as tight, and I feel my lower back rounding (needing some lumbar support I think). I’m also a runner, if that means anything related to how my body functions while sitting for a full work day.

I’ve also sat in either my dining room chair (don’t judge me too harshly) or in a crappy old computer chair. I am ready to actually spend some money since I spend so much of my time sitting. Ideally Amazon because I want to try a chair and be able to return it if it isn’t a great match.

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Ideally Amazon because I want to try a chair and be able to return it if it isn’t a great match. I totally understand the desire to take advantage of Amazon's extremely generous return policy if you are uncertain on what you want. I won't try to talk you out of it, but I have to warn you that quite literally 99.9% of all Amazon listings in the "Office Chair" category are now cheap generic $15-40 (listed as $150-200) imports from overseas. That category got flooded after the pandemic WFH crazy by novice bandwagon sellers & black hat shoddy sellers looking to make a quick buck with little to no regard to the quality of product they're actually selling. If you're going to buy on Amazon, definitely stick to reputable brands and official listings by Authorized Distributors of those brands. I'd stay far away from any private label (made up brands) or generic listings. As preached about often every day in this sub, trying before buying is a very important part of the process. Instead of making some poor Amazon seller facilitate your <30 day rental and take a loss with both outbound and return shipping expenses on a large bulky item, if possible, I'd strongly recommend visiting a local Office Furniture outlet store to try some of the more popular models out in person. Even if its a bit of a drive, no one ever regrets it. Even if you leave empty handed, it's nice to compare different models side by side in person to narrow your options down as opposed to ordering something blind. Hope this helps a bit. Wish you luck on finding a perfect match! -Colin at TheBackStore

Thanks everyone. I decided to check out Facebook marketplace to avoid Amazon, be able to see chairs IRL, and to save some money. I see tons and tons of Herman Millers- is there some fraudulent racket or something? It’s a lot of folks claiming they have tons and resell them for between $350-450, and it just has hardcore scam flavors. Im wondering if I’m paranoid/where folks trust for resell?

I'm looking for an office chair up to $300 and have been searching and reading tons of posts on the sub about the best one under $300, and there's a few that keep coming up, but they all have bad reviews on Amazon, while ones with good reviews on Amazon get no mentions.

The main and most famous example is the Ticova. It has on Amazon right now 2838 reviews with a 4.0 rating, which isn't good, while a "chinese" chair like the GABRYLLY (https://www.amazon.com/Gabrylly-Ergonomic-Mesh-Office-Chair/dp/B07Y8BXBX8) has 12,115 reviews with a 4.5 rating, which is much better.

Am I missing something or should I just buy the GABRYLLY based on good reviews?

I am a college student and I have a in person summer internship, so my desk chair at home doesn't get used much or for very long periods (most just for gaming and occasionally getting work done, but I'm never really in it for more than an hour or 2 max)

When I moved for college my mom got rid of a bunch of stuff in my room (including my cheap IKEA hard plastic chair, which I hated but again didn't really matter) but basically I just need literally anything and just need something quick on Amazon. $100 max budget, but I saw some options around the $50 price range which would be a lot more ideal. I understand I'm not going to be getting a good chair for this price, but what's my best option for something that's going to be somewhat comfortable and ideally not fall apart in a few years. (Are the Amazon basics chairs any good? Anything in particular I should look at or avoid, I really don't know what I'm looking at here)

Edit: I know buying a better used chair is the best option, but I have an Amazon gift card and don't really feel like looking for one used

Hello! I am looking for an office chair under $150. Any recommendations? I know millions of people on this sub say don’t buy cheap office chairs and recommend finding a used one on Marketplace, but I can’t do that due to funding regulations (I work at a public research institution). I have to buy from organization-accredited retailers, so Amazon is the best bet and other big retailers may also work. It has to be plastic or leather material (can-be-wiped kind of materials, not cotton—due to the nature of the research), and I want it to be height adjustable. Adjustable Reclining/tilt function is plus.

I was wondering if anyone might have an office chair recommendation for me. I’m 5’6’’ about 145 and I tend to lean forward all day while looking at my monitors. I have really bad hunched over posture with rounded shoulders and forward neck position, and always have back pain, primarily in my upper back/scapula area. I sit at the computer 8 hours a day for work, it’s completely sedentary. I’ve been looking at Amazon since those chairs are in my budget and I can return them if needed. I don’t know of anywhere near me (other than Office Max) that has chairs I can actually try out. Thanks folks!

Hey all, Ahnestly here! I review chairs on YouTube and after collecting comments from my community mixed w/ my own personal opinion, I create an annual ultimate chair buying guide video for every budget and height (currently has a 99.3% like ratio, which is insane!). The mods have allowed me to link the video below, but it is NOT mandatory to watch. I'll list out the chairs first and link will be at the bottom for anyone who cares to watch that.

Preliminary notes: People wonder why companies don't make chairs for really short or really tall people. I wish I could show you guys my video's analytics...the vast majority of time watched occurs in the average height section. These companies are out here to make a profit, and sometimes that means targeting the majority, not the minority. Please keep that in mind as you will see a lot of overlap with these chairs.

I just wonder if somebody could help me as I'm getting frustrated. I', looking for a chair around 150-200 Euro and really don't know what to buy. I mean I have no idea what will be the quality of the chair after 6-12 months. I can check review but last time when I bought a chair based on opinion, I ended after a few months with a very uncomfortable seat. So far I found the following and hope somebody has experience with any of these chairs and could advise:

  1. amzdeal Ergonomic Office Chair (https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B08L9LWB2N/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3AE1R3E5N2J6Z&psc=1)

  6. And one more (https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B082XXGL8M/ref=ox_sc_act_title_8?smid=A2IL0P6POUUI1H&psc=1)

After hours of research, I can't really find anything about above. Perhaps somebody could advise smoething else ii similar price?

I might have made a huge mistake. I just picked up a Colamy Atlas...I think. See I purchased a chair from this listing as somehow it was the first to come up and had over 300 reviews.

https://imgur.com/a/rKItp9k

I didn't bother checking the seller but after it shipped today, I got curious and looked up the chair again and saw a separate listing. Checking the seller, I found the second listing (with 41 reviews) was sold by Amazon. I checked mine and this was the seller info.

https://imgur.com/a/KSDDpqw

I check the reviews of the chair I bought (I know, this should have been my first move, rookie mistake), and found they were reviews for an entirely different chair that one customer states was only $80. My current working theory is that they updated the listing in order to keep the reviews while selling a new chair. The most recent reviews are almost all from 2021 except for a review in February of this year.

https://imgur.com/a/m3CJLFY

Conclusion:

Best case scenario, this Asian company mass ordered Colamy Atlas chairs to try and scoop up some of the profit from BToD's recent video on it, worst case scenario, I'm going to receive an $80 chair and have to pay a massive return shipping fee. Thoughts?

Update: got lucky, chair seems to be legit. Full colamy packaging and branding as well as the instruction pamphlets and tools. Even the packaging is a massive box branded with colamy all over it. I cant find any error with it at all.

I checked mine and this was the seller info. https://imgur.com/a/KSDDpqw Ah, one of these guys...as soon as I saw Sold by "ST SP" I had a feeling. Not all of these sellers are up to no good, but most of the ones that are certainly look like this. The fact that their seller description and contact information is that of the COLAMY brand definitely raises some red flags to me, though. I check the reviews of the chair I bought [...], and found they were reviews for an entirely different chair that one customer states was only $80. My current working theory is that they updated the listing in order to keep the reviews while selling a new chair. I'm 99% sure this is another example of what is commonly referred to as ASIN Hijacking. This seller more than likely either took over another sellers generic (no-brand) product listing that had good reviews and entirely re-configured it, or they bought it from someone else who did. Happens far too often where a bad actor swoops in on a trending ASIN with 10+ sellers, assigns a fictitious (or in this case, fraudulent) brand to an ASIN, applies and is approved as rights over of said brand, and then kicks off all other sellers by restricting permissions to only themself. Then, they can change the images ,titles, bullet points etc. Best case scenario, this Asian company mass ordered Colamy Atlas chairs to try and scoop up some of the profit from BToD's recent video on it, worst case scenario, I'm going to receive an $80 chair and have to pay a massive return shipping fee. Thoughts? These sellers typically work one of two ways... Either they try to pass as legit and make their "honest" money. This aligns with your best case scenario...but the fact that they're not even pretending to be a regular seller, but the COLAMY brand themself, has me super skeptical on this one. Or, like your worst case scenario... they are going to rip off and scam as much money as possible in efforts to get 1 single disbursement from Amazon before customers start complaining about their orders never showing up and get frozen/shut down. However, I think you're in a win win situation here. This seller is violating policies in a multitude of ways. Worst case you can get a full refund. Best case you can get a full refund and a free chair. There are countless reasons for you to open a claim that would result in Amazon siding in your favor, even if your product shows up as advertised. Funny enough, Scam Buyers go out of their way to target these types of scam Sellers because they're such easy targets. This is a very easy opportunity for people to get a free chair product tbh, if they're willing to put up the deposit and deal with the hassle. Otherwise, a major Buyer Beware. I might have made a huge mistake. Maybe so, but I think you'll be completely fine no matter how this plays out. -Colin at TheBackStore

I sit at my desk at least 10 hours a day on average doing work or games, and wanted to get a new chair from amazon since it's prime day. My budget isn't too high, roughly 200.

I would prefer having adjustable or flip up armrests on the chair. Everything else is whatever. I'm 5'7 at 140lbs.

I have my eye on felixking chair on sale. Would this be a good pickup, or are there better? I know this sub likes buying secondhand, but I would strongly prefer not to. thanks!
