June 10, 2025 - Apple TV error message Apple TV app isn’t available right now check internet connection. all the other apps on my Apple TV work, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime but not the Apple TV app or the subscriptions I have purchased thru Apple TV like AMC+, Paramount or showtime.

Open Apple TV, and check if it crashes again. Try opening a different app on the TV. If the other app is working without issues, contact Apple Support.

Check the System Status page for service interruptions or check a third-party provider's website for any interruptions. If there are service interruptions, try to stream or watch the video later. It looks specifically like Apple TV+ is down right now.. ... Clint - Video playback failing, says "Unable to Play" on multiple videos. Restating device and/or app and/or network connection does not resolve.. ... Jame - App was not downloading and then finally did. Movie keeps stopping and starting.. ... Fallon - On purchased movie— stopped playing and says content is unavailable. Nothing will play off of AppleTV+. Thank you for reporting an issue with Apple.

Reports surged on Downdetector, with 64% citing server connection issues, 34% reporting app problems, and 2% experiencing download errors in the US. Affected areas included Houston, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Minneapolis.Apple acknowledged the outage and said it was investigating to restore full functionality.

There are some things you can try if your Apple TV isn’t working, won’t turn on, or shows a black screen.

November 13, 2025 - There was a time when I was all in on Roku, so I can see myself landing back in that camp, or maybe I'll give Amazon's new Fire TV Select a chance, though the platform's recent shift to Vega OS and the rampant blocking of a certain type of app limits its appeal considerably, especially as the cost of streaming app subscriptions continues to skyrocket. In reality, I really don't want to abandon the Apple TV 4K and tvOS. It's the platform I've used for years, and I'm very comfortable with it. I just need Apple to step its game up like it did back when iOS started to suffer from stability issues a few years ago.
