We went to the Avalon for a 1pm showing if “Drive My Car,” a deeply moving Japanese film that weaves Chekhov’s “Uncle Vanya” in with the lives of its director and his deceased wife, his car driver, a cast member who once was the wife’s lover, and the mute wife of the theater’s producer who (the wife) plays a key role in the play using Korean sign language to speak her lines.
