r/Bazzite on Reddit: How do I install LACT?
July 25, 2024 -

I installed bazzite on my PC with the option of gaming mode. I'm trying to figure out how to get LACT installed on this system so that I can undervolt my AMD card. I don't see the option in Bazzite Portal.

r/Bazzite on Reddit: LACT is not working on Bazzite?
May 30, 2025 -

Hi! After multiple attempts at trying to install LACT on Bazzite it seems like it ain't "compatible"? Whenever you click the "Enable AMD Overclock" it gives back a text box with one or two errors, I've read the Github explanation about a Boot Parameter solution, but when I go to edit the Grub file it doesn't even have the parameter that I'm supposed to add, when I added it manually it's like nothing happened (even after re-building the Grub file), so my understanding is that it ain't compatible yet? (Maybe I'm doing something wrong with the Boot parameter? It seemed a bit complicated)

Anyone else had this issue?

r/linux_gaming on Reddit: Can't figure out how to apply LACT settings
July 9, 2025 -

Hi there! Sorry if I'm being an idiot, but I've been trying to figure things out for a few hours, searching here and there but I'm still at a loss. I've recently taken the leap and set up a dual boot Bazzite, and so far having a blast, even though I have to relearn a lot of things.

Latest issue is I'm trying to set up an undervolt/overclock profile for my RX 7900 XTX, and managed to unlock all options in LACT, but nothing I do seems to apply. I figured I'd try undervolting first, but Mangohud still shows the same value. To make sure, I've tried setting the fan at a fixed 100%, but that doesn't kick in either after applying. Am I missing something? Yes, it's the correct GPU (I've disabled onboard chipset in BIOS).

Please don't bash me too hard.

Edit: my investigations and reading of https://gitlab.com/corectrl/corectrl/-/issues/460 point me to a driver level issue with my GPU, as I seem to be unable to change settings using Corectrl as well. Still investigating to clear the fog and try to find a solution/workaround.

r/Bazzite on Reddit: LACT - GPU Control Panel - supporting Nvidia and TDP adjustment (power limit).
December 30, 2024 -

I had missed this news recently with my view of Linux being somewhat narrower and newer - but it seems LACT has increased tooling for Nvidia GPUs.

For someone with lower experience this broadens the accessibility of GPU monitoring tools and brings me closer to parity with Windows GPU tweaking (wishlisting undervolting Nvidia for 2025!)

I had previously been following a script / command to limit power usage of my Nvidia card, however LACT seemingly does the same thing via a GUI slider - along with other helpful info about the GPU in operation. I was able to tweak the power slider and see real time results when applied and while running a game.

Unfortunately this failed to install correctly from the Bazzite portal as confirmed in the log, I believe perhaps because the portal halted for almost an hour and did not ask me for any root credentidals (as it did on subsequent attempts). Then when attempting again after rebooting - it reported it was installed, but was nowhere to be found after a further reboot. I eventually fixed it when following some instruction on ublue discussions (I'll edit with the link when I get home).

Basically all I want to know is if there's anything I should install to further improve performance both for non-games/games.

Or is everything good to go with the Nvidia drivers installed And all that jazz.

i installed bazzite a few weeks ago. it's been pretty much a seamless transition and games run very well. Overall performances is also, very good. if you are installing anything, make sure you install the flatpak or appimage files. avoid installing rpm files. bazzite is inmutabe and thus almost impossible to break down... keyword: almost. if your computer is already working then dont worry about anything else. bazzite pretty much has everything it needs to work. so, enjoy!

Not really, use Proton plus which comes built in to download the iatest Proton ge. Then in steam, under properties, then compatability, specify that you want to use the latest Proton ge. But really you don't even need to do that either as the regular Proton that steam uses is fine for the majority of cases. Try running a game, if you have issues then open up protondb and find the game and you'll see a lot of comments from people and what is needed to run the game. You can run a game "natively" which means to just eun it from steam, or through gamescope. Gamescope is a tool built by valve to help with displaying the game, so if your game can't alt tab or whatever because it freezes gamescope can help but that's a more advanced topic. What features do you need working? 4k? Hdr? High frame rates? Vrr? Or just plain old 1080p gaming? Bazzite comes pre tuned to just work, everything is already optimized and controllers should just work unless you have a dualsense. Then it'll work but with caveats.

r/Bazzite on Reddit: How was your experience with Bazzite in 2025? I'm thinking about switching to Bazzite full time.
January 6, 2026 -

I'm currently dual booting Windows 11 and I have Fedora Gnome and CachyOS KDE Plasma. I'm thinking about potentially switching to Bazzite instead since I also enjoyed using Nobara but because it's one man project, it was often broken and it took long time to receive an update.

I'm tired of Windows constantly breaking my AMD drivers.

I enjoy do to emulation and I use multiple custom keyboards and chinese controllers.

I don't like bloat that I don't need but I prefer to have all gaming stuff already installed out of the box without having to worry about missing things out and installing everything on each fresh install.

I use full amd build with 7800x3d and 6950 XT. I mostly use it for gaming but not exclusively for gaming.

What was your experience with Bazzite in 2025? Did you have stuff break or was it stable? What were things that you were impressed with and what were you frustrated with?

I enjoy having control over my system but also intuitive and simple maintenance.

How are stability and updates?

I really enjoy Gnome with taskbar extension.

I'm mostly between Bazzite and CachyOS as of now.

I'd really appreciate your takes.:)

Anyone using Bazzite for gaming? | [H]ard|Forum
November 1, 2024 - Since then, I decided to make an all AMD build and installed ChimeraOS again (easy and nice Steam console OS). But, it was too locked and I had a noisy 6950 XT GPU. Could not install Lact without it getting flushed in the next update. Bazzite is atomic and not completly immutable with build-in support for lact.

r/Bazzite on Reddit: Thinking of installing Bazzite on my Ryzen 6800H + RTX 3060 laptop — need a comprehensive, newbie-friendly guide & compatibility help
November 5, 2025 -

Hey everyone — total Linux noob here, thinking about switching my laptop to Bazzite and I’d love a comprehensive walkthrough from people who’ve done this. My laptop specs: Ryzen 6800H, 16 GB RAM, RTX 3060 (laptop). I currently run Windows and use a bunch of apps — and I’m nervous about breaking stuff. I checked the Bazzite docs and a few community guides but they leave me with lots of questions.

A few specific things I’d love help with:

  1. DaVinci Resolve I use DaVinci Resolve for editing — will it run smoothly on Bazzite systems with an NVIDIA laptop GPU?

  2. Browsers Which browser works best for day-to-day? Are there obvious shortcuts for installing Chrome/Edge on Bazzite? Any sandboxing/privacy advice? Would be better if someone suggests anything other than Chrome

  3. Torrenting Is torrenting fine on Bazzite? Recommended torrent clients

  4. Coding / Visual Studio Code I code in VS Code. Does this work in Bazzite?

  5. MSI Afterburner I undervolt my GPU on Windows using MSI Afterburner. Can i do this bazzite as well?

  6. Nvidia Gpus Will my gpu work with bazzite and how do i update drivers? Can i use nvidia overlay and recording?

I really want to make the switch from windows because the plethora of problems from this OS is killing my experience. Would like to try something not as bloated. Any advice is highly appreciated.

Note: Im also seeing that with Nvidia GPUs the Steam Gaming mode doesnt work properly. Is it true? or has it been fixed? Any workarounds can anyone suggest?

I have three pieces of advice. Back up any data you care about to an external drive. Be comfortable with breaking your system. If you’re just starting out you WILL break something. It may be incredibly minor or your system may not boot. You’ll need to debug and possibly wipe your drive and start again. Did I mention having a backup of your data?

Should work although I never tested it. I think Bazzite even has simple command to install Resolve Basically whatever you like. You don't have to use other browser than on Windows. Firefox, Zen, Edge, Brave, Vivaldi, Opera and ton of others, all work fine. Edge has broken sidebar for ages now, and Copilot doesn't work, but other than that it's fine. You install every browser as flatpak in Bazaar app (it's like app store) Yeah, zero problems with torrenting. I just used Qbittorrent so same as Windows. I think you can activate "developer mode" in Bazzite now which will install it for you. Other than that you can use VSCode flatpak or install it in Distrobox. No apps like that have Linux versions so no Afterburner. There are some tools for that like LACT but it never worked for me when I tried it with my 3070, but that was a year ago, so it may be better now. Overall hardware managing so like undervolting GPU, CPU, setting fan curves, controlling RGB, controlling mouse and keyboard settings etc. are unfortunately more troublesome on Linux. Yes it will work, but remember to choose Bazzite-nvidia image. You don't update drivers. Whole system gets updated by its own, you don't have to think about that really. First thing I would recommend before switching is to list all your hardware and check if it is compatible, like printers, scanners, keyboard, mouse, audio interface, driving wheel, whatever else.
