Can you recommend a bed for an elderly person? I need to replace his bed due to wear/age of the mattress (twin). I work in healthcare, frequently with elderly patients. The best solution is going to be two twin-sized, medium-soft, innerspring mattresses with adjustable bases and then a convoluted foam topper. You should stay away from memory foam because it’s going to limit their mobility, I’ve literally seen people have to call for an ambulance because they became trapped by their memory foam mattress. I’ve also seen many, many people who fell trying to get out of their bed. It’s a very common issue, especially with how common memory foam has become. An innerspring mattress’s “springiness” can literally help give extra momentum when trying to get up and move. The elderly also have very delicate skin that is prone to pressure injuries and tears. A convoluted foam topper will help eliminate pressure points, it’s actually exactly what we use in the hospital to prevent pressure sores (among other things). More on reddit.com
