Belt Sander - How to DIY sandpaper belts?
Best belt sander belts?
I’ve been sanding for nearly 45 minutes, with a pretty powerful belt sander, and I’ve barely made a dent. This is only the first side. Is there a faster way? Solid oak.

Turn it on…belt moves away from me. Tightening doesn’t seem to help. It’s an old Delta bench top belt sander on a stand. 6inch 9inch. Any help would be appreciated
Hi all. I'm looking to get a "handheld" belt sander. The sandpaper belts for the model that I'm looking at are 3" x 21". This my only choice to purchase.
I happen to have (don't ask) a box full of many sandpaper belts. They are 4" x approx. 5-1/2' (foot). Do bench belt sanders even come in this massive length or is this sandpaper for a floor drum sander?
The markings on the underside read Y-98, SIC, 36 and hz. I assume 36 is the grit and SIC is silicone carbide?
Maybe this sandpaper is way too course for working with general woodworking projects. However, I was thinking it would make it a lot more worth it to purchase the handheld belt sander if I could use this sandpaper to make belts for it. I've seen a couple of videos of folks cutting and using an epoxy to glue the belt together but that was for a bench sander (not handheld which I think may use much more force and friction on the sandpaper belts). I was curious if anyone here has any tried and true experience making your own belts. Thanks.
I picked up some pretty solid belt sanders on the side of the road. I need to find new belts for them though. A 3x18 and 3x24.
I love the 3M cubitron II professional sand paper but I can't seem to find any belts where it shows that in the description.
What belts do you like best and do you know of any with the cubitron?
