So I got an Anne Pro which I like, but I realize now, at work as a programmer, I use the arrow keys a ton. Anybody else do heavy arrow use on a 60%? Do you get used to it, or should I just go TKL instead?
I actually like 60% or smaller keyboards better for using the arrows often. They are easier and quicker to use when they are right on the home row. And that's where I have them on my Planck as well. On IJKL when I hold down the right space key.
Now I also use Vim as my editor, so I pretty much don't use arrow keys at all any more when programming. But still. It's nice to have the arrows for navigational purposes outside of Vim.
Fellow programmer here! I went from TKL to 40% straightaway, and for the first couple weeks I was definitely slower learning the function layers with all the special characters that writing code requires, but then I got super used to it and everything is super speedy. My arrow keys my pinky and i,j,k, and l. Now when I use regular arrows I feel like I am having to move so much to get to them!
Don't be scared to go smaller. You will absolutely get used to whatever you end up with. Also new keyboards are just fun as shit so there is that.
I have a TKL WASD Code with clears and it is awesome but my coworker bought the green one and it is amazing. I love that noise .I was considering to buy the 60% code with greens but i fear that it will be awkward to code on a 60% keyboard. IMHO 60% keyboard are good only for normal typing(documents, etc etc) but I never used one. Any suggestions?
My budget is around $150-$200. Am looking for a good keyboard for programming! What’s the difference between the full size and 60%? There’s %40 too right
