Optimal grinder for French press?
July 19, 2022 - I had 3 back-to-back best espressos I've had in a long time with the pour over burr but this deserves its own topic. Judging from everything I've gathered online if I didn't already own the Kinu I don't know that that would be my first choice for pour over and French press. However if you already own the Kinu then the upgrade to the pour over burr I would wholeheartedly recommend it. ... Looking for GbW grinder.

March 9, 2010 - You want fairly large granules so they don't pass through the screen. A blade grinder can't do this. You would want a conical burr grinder for a french press. The manual models are much cheaper than the motorized. Check out Zassenhaus.

Is there a do it all grinder for French press, espresso, and occasionally just drip coffee?
Was thinking about a DF64 but the Hoffman review is giving me pause. Was thinking about the Lagom Mini. Would manual be preferable? We are taking at most 4 cups of whatever a day. At most.

I have a DF64 and I think the Hoffmann review is a bit strong. I really like the build quality, the heft and of course the grind quality. It produces excellent espresso and I can’t imagine it would be poor for other methods. And if you want to raise it to Lagom P64 levels, you can put in an SSP burr set. All in all I would recommend it.
