I have an LEM #12 0.75hp. It is quality construction and I can grind out 15lbs of sausage double ground and including mixing spices and stuff in 30m. Sometimes I feel like I spend more time washing it then the actual grinding lol. It's probably a little big for average household, but I've got multiple boys who are going to eat me out of house and home when they're teens

Best answer IMHO would be a Hobart unit. They're what commercial butchers use. There's other brands but Hobart parts are readily available. I have one that is from around WW2 that still chugs right along.

Hey everyone,
I know this might not be totally on topic, but I'm starting here since I'm guessing many of you are in the same situation. I finally made the best brisket of my life last weekend, and it started with a serious trim job. Like of the 16lb brisket, I probably cut off 5 lbs, 2-3 of which was actual meat.
I saved the good trimmings and threw them in the freezer because my family also loves smash burgers. I've never had a meat grinder before, but I could easily see this going into making sausage, etc. down the road. I'd also be happy to cook more briskets since there won't be as much waste as in the past.
Should I get an electric one? Manual? I have a cuisinart but it's from my parents and like 50 years old, I'm not confident an attachment would be compatible.
Any advice welcome!

Meat grinders are pretty expensive it seems like. I just got one thats an attachment to my kitchenaid. It works great for my small batch sausages, which is like five or so pounds. The only thing to keep in mind that you can also use that attachment to case your sausage, but it is in abhorrent and miserable process. I’m going to be getting the stuffer hopefully this holiday season because I’m not gonna buy one myself right now. So, to recap, I recommend it as a grinder and recommend that you get yourself a separate casing machine

As a hunter that processes my own meat, I have a fairly large grinder - a Waltons #22 (and love it). That's overkill for what it sounds like you need, unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket. If you're just doing 5-10 pounds every now and then, a "kitchen" grinder like this should do the trick. Sure, you could grab something from Amazon. But the guys over at Waltons really know their way around meat processing and equipment. If they carry it, they've test it, possibly designed/modified it, and can vouch for its performance.
