I gave my wife the green light to redesign a bathroom and she has decided that the faucets, shower heads and more are coming from IKEA. Now as you can probably guess, I’m the one who will end up maintaining this remodeled bathroom, so my first thought is NO IKEA!!
She tells me, “but they have ten year warranties so they must be good.” (Right… if anything goes wrong within ten years, does the warranty pay my time used to to clean up, remove the leaking old parts, and install new ones?)
Am I wrong? Are IKEA fixtures ok, or is my wife setting me up for a maintenance headache?

IKEA fixtures around my home, self installed in, actually I think in all cases. Drain setup is often nonstandard, but connects just fine to your ABS and the rest of your system. I’ve had mine in place for oh, oldest one must be December 2018. Gets used daily (main bathroom) by a family of three, including a 14 yo who has no concept of taking care of these things, and zero issues thus far. I’d agree with whoever said above that it’s the same as a hardware store. Harder to get replacement parts if you’re the kind of high level fixit wizard who will rip apart a faucet for a new solenoid valve, but tbf that’s not most people and making their products hard to disassemble doesn’t necessarily equal bad. Hope this lil anecdote helps!

I also have them and even though they are not perfect, they are a couple of grades better in ergonomics and aesthetics compared to traditional American bathrooms.

As a plumber, I can confirm that they are generally kind of a pain to install. There's not much room, generally, the connections aren't standard, the drains are hard to work and adapt to and the faucets are hard to find parts for. The vanity's themselves aren't terrible but block access to the valves and drain for emergency shut-off or drain maintenance situations. I love IKEA products but these are some I would never put in my own home... It always takes 2-3x longer to install than standard equipment
