We must boycott any models that lock content into a particular platform. That applies both for listeners and for podcasters.
There is a way to offer exclusive content for backers that they can listen to in any app they want; just have a secret RSS feed that you only give out to backers. Patreon automates this nicely, generating a unique RSS feed for each backer, so it can delete the RSS feed if they stop supporting.

Which Podcast(s) do you pay for?
How do I tell who needs my money more, because I can’t subscribe to everything that I really like? And there are a lot of you out there who know more about which podcasts are part of a big complex and which podcasts are on their own. Ones I never miss: The gist, Fifth column, Vibe check, unexplainable, on the media, 99% invisible, articles of interest, the POD save podcasts, civics 101, endless thread, 538, this American life, heavyweight, freakanomics, lovett or leave it, the bugle, the Europeans, the memory palace, 20k hertz to name but a few!! How do I find which one need my piddly subscription? Sorry this is so long. Retired, living in Europe. Thanks!!

I love true crime podcasts… I started out with My favorite Murder a few years ago, and kept it up for awhile, until Covid came along , and then it just changed and I didn’t like it as much…. So a couple of days ago I thought I’d try a new one, it’s called Morbid……well …. Back to my favorite murder first. Karen and Georgia were good, especially their live shows, which I loved… they liked to have potty mouths a lot…I’m an adult, I can take the F word once in a while..not the reason I listened to them anyway…. So I progress to Morbid….. I couldn’t even listen to the full first episode!,, the two women were trying so very very hard to be hard core Karen and Georgia…to the point that they were extremely loud, obnoxious, and put the potty mouths Karen and Georgia had to Shame!!…. It was very off putting, when it might be a very good series of podcasts, but I can’t take the hosts way over the top behavior style…..All this , I know to say, I don’t recommend Morbid for that reason!,,,, Had to rant on this a little, but needles to say, no subscription!,
