I've lived in Hamilton for 10+ years and have always had trouble finding a restaurant I am jazzed to go to for a nice meal out. The restaurant scene is so hyped but I typically find places are either: trying too hard to be fancy in service / atmosphere but not really nailing it; chasing food trends / Pinterest decor trends; essentially not focused on really solid food / cooking. I may also be spoiled by other cities that have a more mature food scene. I guess my wish is for people to be driven for genuine passion for food and create an atmosphere that is unique to them.

Wondering if I am missing anything? Would like to go out this week and am stumped about where to go. Totally open to more old school spots if the food is great and the vibes are good.
