I would use paper ones instead. The silicone ones pick up odors and become disgusting quicker than I prefer. Paper ones that can be composted are probably better, IMO.

I use silicone muffin cups on a baking sheet and it works really well, and takes up less space in my cupboard than having a separate muffin tin.
But all the silicone muffin cups I can find have ridges, which are a royal pain to clean. I get why paper cups need them, being stamped from a flat circle. But why silicone, which is moulded into shape??
Is there anywhere to get normal sized smooth muffin cups? I can find jumbo ones, but not regular size.

They definitely exist. I'm not sure where you're located but I've seen them at dollar stores, Superstore/Loblaws, or online. Trudeau is a brand I see often both in stores and on Amazon.
