Over the last 6 years I’ve probably spent close to $2000 on earbuds. With the exception of the JBL endurance sports, every pair has either has succumbed to sweat/rain damage, fallen apart, or had battery/charging problems. I can’t remember them all, but off the top of my head, I’ve tried:
AirPods (3rd gen & Pro): sweat damage.
ESC sound Series 3: 1st pair sweat damage. Replacement bud charging problem. 2nd replacement set charging problem in one bud and sweat damage in other.
Soundcore X10 Sport: right bud started glitching and then fell apart.
Jabara Elite 75 & 85: 75s volume would randomly drop; replacement set sweat damage. 85s rain damage.
JBL Endurance Sports: work fine, but they have a touch surface instead of buttons and if a single drop of sweat or rain hits the surface, it will randomly start skipping tracks or turn the earbuds off.
I had another set of JBLs I can’t remember the name of that died of sweat damage because the charge port had a plastic cover that was slowly bent out of shape every time it was opened until it couldn’t close anymore.
I’ve tried a few random cheap pairs I can’t remember that we’re supposed to be sweat resistant but didn’t last. I know BIFL isn’t really feasible, but at this point I don’t care about price if I can get at least 2-3 of reliable service.
I'm looking for an all-in-one earphone solution, since I really want to be able to go on runs and train in them as well as have good sound quality and ANC. I has been using these very cheap wireless earphones, which you can't run with and want an upgrade too something which will stay in my ears without falling out. I have been looking at the beats fit pro because I have tried them on before and they haven't fallen out of my ears and I liked the fit overall because it has the small inner hook that works really well. However, they are quite old so I'm wondering if its still worth purchasing them, especially since many new earphones have come out.
Another one I've looked at is the new Google Pixel Buds Pro 2, which looks very good for quality, but I'm having doubts about whether they will stay in no matter what training I'm doing (running, sprinting, etc), and whether the wing that's attached is any good. If anyone has any other recommendations please mention them as well.
Appreciate suggestions for good value, quality sport earbuds with over-ear hooks to hold them in place, primarily for listening to podcasts and music indoors, and sometimes outdoors if they have an awareness mode for preserving 360 hearing for any potential hazards. Don't need the best sound, would be happy with good enough. Water resistant. Under $50 or $40.
Currently have a pair of JLab Go Pop+ wireless earbuds which are fine for indoor use when you're not moving around too much as they don't have an over-ear hook. Sound isn't the best and it isn't the worst, but for $16 they were a steal (regularly $25).
I have JBLs that fall out all the time. Same with apple airpods. Looking into over the ear options. For running, i am thinking that 'open ear' is safer, esp bc i am running in the city. What ear buds do people like?
Looking for high quality sport ear buds.
I've used Jlabs in the past and I really like them. Although I broke one or the buds so now I need a new pair of wireless earbuds that I can use while exercising. I tried my buddies Bose earbuds and the quality is tremendous.
I've seen some reviews for bose not sticking in ear as good as they shoipd for sports. I've seen the beats fit with great reviews for staying in ear. Although I've always loved bose sound and thought beats was a little flashy... Like they pay a lot for advertising and endorsements and you get them to look "cool" so I never really considered getting them. But maybe they are a great option.
What do you think? What other brands or specific sport wireless earbuds would you recommend?
Heavy workouts have been wearing out my earbuds like nobody’s business, to the point that they may only last a few weeks. I’d love to buy some workout ones, but every pair I find has a price in the triple digits. Has anyone found a less expensive that survives sweat or am I just gonna have to eat this purchase?
Hey, I've been looking for the best earbuds for running, sprinting and jogging for a while.
The earbuds I'm using keep falling out and I need earbuds for my small ears. Any recommendations are welcome as I can't run without music!
TIA!
Edit: thanks for your advice, ended up choosing these. They've been great so far!
Please don't bother saying "listen to the woods" or whatever.
Under $150 please.
Bluetooth. Buds. Stay in my ears.
Aeropex are my go-to. They are bone conduction so don't sit in your ear at all. Sound isn't amazing but it is surprisingly good and no issues at all with them falling out. Plus you can still hear stuff around you to a certain extent.
Powerbeats. By beats they come either tethered together or singular. Have an over ear rubber part that keep them in. I like them tethered together in case I knock one out it doesn’t go flying. 15 plus hours of listen time. Can be really loud. 119$
What are the best value Bluetooth earbuds for working out with? I can afford whatever, but I don't want to spend over $100 because it gets silly. My ears aren't that discerning. I want realistic sound, I guess, but a bit too much bass is ok.
Thanks.
I have been on the AirPod wave for a while but I feel that they crap out on me quickly and do not stay in my ears while working out. Wanted to see if anyone had an earbud they would recommend? Preferably not with the silicon tips but I am open to any options :)
I’m trying to upgrade my earbuds specifically for workouts, but I’m honestly struggling to figure out which ones are actually worth it. There are so many choices now, and every review seems to hype a different pair.
What I really want is a pair that stays secure during movement, sounds great, and doesn’t cut out or feel uncomfortable when I’m sweaty. Battery life and durability matter too, since I use them for runs, gym sessions, and long walks.
Some options I keep seeing around are:
Beats Fit Pro
Jaybird Vista 2
Jabra Elite Active 75t
Powerbeats Pro
I’m trying to find the best wireless earbuds for working out, and I’m tired of hype‑only recommendations. My current buds slip when I sweat, battery dies too fast, and I want something that actually stays in place, sounds great, and survives intense sessions without cutting out.
I’ve seen tons of options thrown around, but I want real opinions from people who actually use them for workouts not just spec sheets.
What are the best wireless earbuds you’ve used for working out, and which ones should I avoid?
Hey guys! Looking for some really good earbuds for the gym. Here’s some specs I think are important to me, please recc whatever you think fits best (bonus for tried and tested) -Sweat proof! (i sweat a lot on my face especially, I can’t have them getting waterlogged lol) -Slip proof, basically they can’t fall out of my ear mid rep. I know over ear ones would be the best for these but those tend to feel suffocating while I’m weight training. -Slight noise cancelling. I just wanna mute some surrounding sound, not completely block it out for when I’m running (safety first while running outside!) A good booming bass to really get the blood pumping (some good pump songs would also be welcome hehe)
I'm trying to buy earbuds for a birthday gift since the person enjoys running with music but doesn't have any earbuds/headphones. I don't have much money so my budget is around $200 CAD and whenever I try to find some earbuds they have a lot of bad reviews on them. The main points I'm looking for is that it doesn't fall out of the ear, good battery life, and decent sound quality.
I often hear people say you should spend at least £100 on in earbuds to have them last or have decent quality. While I have a wired pair, it only cost me about £35 and they've lasted a few months at this point.
Unfortunately my phone is breaking and I need to change, but no phone (worth getting) in my country has headphone jacks, second hand or not.
Can anyone recommend a decent pair of Bluetooth earphones, not headphones, that I could get for a reasonable/budget price (probably £60 tops). I already have to buy a new phone, so for the time being I'll use a dongle, but that probably won't last forever.
Anyone have a pair of wireless earbuds that actually stay in your ears when working out that you’d recommend? Something below $200 preferably.
Edit: Thank you for all the suggestions. Based off your help and reviews it came down to the Bose soundsport free and the Jabra elite active 65t. Ultimately I decided on the, drum roll please... Jabras. They had the features I was looking with a slightly lower price. Can’t wait to start using them on my journey to getting fucking ripped.
Running headphones are for people who prefer their jogging outside and thus need to be able to hear their surroundings to stay safe.
Choosing the best ones for your needs should let you zone out to your favorite playlist or podcast without bouncing around, cutting out, or getting in your way.
A Lexicon of Listening Language for Active Listeners
IP (Ingress Protection) ratings are going to be important. Ingress Protection is directly related to how well or poorly headphones work when impacted by sweat or rain, after all.
Other terms to familiarize yourself with would be ‘wingtips’ and noise cancelling technology. For the tips, allowances are made to the physical design so that they’ll stay put, no matter the workout or the user’s ear shape. Noise cancelling is self-explanatory, with the devices muting ambient sounds so runners and gym rats can stay focused on their fitness playlist, not the sounds of traffic or your gym buddy’s grunting.
Activity-specific material durability is arguably an even greater headache when shopping for sports oriented gear; no one wants a material that’ll crumble after being exposed to salty perspiration for hours on end. Battery life, Bluetooth stability and reliability, all of these factors and more need to line up and be accounted for when researching the best headphones for running and workouts.
