Good places to learn SQL from? Datacamp not great
You've described taking two of the available 32 courses. 12/22 is an exceptionally good outcome for 8 hours of training. The name intermediate might be misleading given that it is very much a fundamental course but you're still v much a beginner. I am also a beginner, even at taking Data Manipulation in SQL and two courses on PostgreSQL. Consider sticking to the end of a learning path (I.e., SQL Fundamentals, Data Analyst in SQL) in DataCamp before making a switch. Also, use the other one concurrently so you're confident it will better meet your needs. The path of least resistance when hopping around is to just stop For me, the pursuit of the perfect learning tool has been by far the biggest barrier to progress. What is a good SQL certification program I should take?
DataCamp and Coursera are what you’re looking for. They both provide certifications after you’re finished with their programs. I’ve got them myself and they’re pretty enjoyable, and you can go at your own pace. I recommend taking a lot of notes though, and try to play with data sets to build more experience for yourself. There are about 300,000 data sets you can play with on data.gov. Keep practicing manipulating data sets and you’ll be a pro in no time! More on reddit.com

Just finished a few SQL certifications including joins on DataCamp. Is this worth having on my LinkedIn and resume throughout the job search or are these useless? (Currently work a non-IT related job in healthcare rn but potentially looking to transition into an analyst role)
TBH.... The harsh truth is that I wouldn't. Yes that could make me a seem like a snob, but Im only saying this to provide constructive advice from the perspective of a recruiter for a team. I would aim for an analyst cert in something like GCP, Azure, Databricks or AWS. e.g. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/power-bi-data-analyst-associate/ https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/certifications/azure-enterprise-data-analyst-associate/ https://docs.databricks.com/applications/genomics/index.html https://aws.amazon.com/certification/certified-data-analytics-specialty/ Study should be free, and exams are cheap. Even if you fail, you definitely will learn a lot from the experience. Meanwhile definitely have a portfolio of projects - even personal ones in the back pocket. By the way, if you're in healthcare - you may have a definite advantage. Health Data Analytics is a niche, but in demand industry. Study up on Electronic Medical Records or Genomics, and if you're pro-active - go seek out opportunities in your current organisation. Learn health informatics, FHIR etc. Best of luck on your journey More on reddit.com

Datacamp Learning Path

I enjoy it.

I'm switching between python and SQL with hopes of using them both when I learn enough.

I've learned more about sql than I ever would've and used my knowledge to solve some what I would call advanced queries.

r/DataCamp on Reddit: Good places to learn SQL from? Datacamp not great
November 25, 2023 -

So I’ve been going over datacamp and have completed the intermediate sql and the course on Joins etc but recently I tried taking a test for a product firm that required SQL and most of the questions were on joins but I just scored a 12/22. Additionally I am trying to solve the intermediate questions on hackerank related to SQL and I am failing to do so. The basic ones were pretty easy.

I am wondering what resources I should look at to relearn SQL or maybe datacamp gets better as I progress? Idk. So far it seems to gloss over a lot of concepts but there is a lack of application. Or maybe I’m not very good at this and should just stick to corporate finance :/

r/SQL on Reddit: Just finished a few SQL certifications including joins on DataCamp. Is this worth having on my LinkedIn and resume throughout the job search or are these useless? (Currently work a non-IT related job in healthcare rn but potentially looking to transition into an analyst role)
July 4, 2022 -

Hi guys,

I have been learning SQL on and off over the past few months and recently just completed a few courses including joins on DataCamp.

Once a course is completed, you are 'awarded' a certification of completion. Are these certs worth putting on your LinkedIn profile under 'Licenses & certifications' and resume when applying for jobs or is this essentially useless?

When applying for jobs, some online applications ask for linkedin profile url. Again, would these datacamp certs be worth placing on your linkedin and resume since it 'proves' that I know SQL joins as well as just general visibility for recruiters for example or should I just leave this off since it does not count for actual real world experience, etc.?

What has been your general experience with this? Graduated w/ a BS in Biology from a few years back and currently work a non-IT related job in healthcare right now but am looking to potentially transition into an analyst role and I live in/near a very large city in the USA by the way if that matters.

Thanks for any feedback/advice I can get on this, greatly appreciated in advance!!
