When I worked for a home cleaning company, we were taking the beater bar out and cutting hair off of it every day. Hi there!
So... My husband and I are currently searching for a new vacuum that might be able to deal with my long hair that sheds like crazy. Our current stick vacuum gets hair wrapped around the roll, and it's super annoying (and kind of gross..) cutting it off. Are there any vacuums out there that are made for this kind of thing? We were looking at pet vacuums initially, but honestly don't know what to look for. If at all possible, a smaller/lighter-weight vacuum would be ideal since we live in a very small apartment, and mostly just use it on our area rug in the living room.

Shark vacuum cleaners As a person who professionally cleans, these are the absolute best vacuum cleaners for long hair and pets! I use one in my home also, I have long hair, 2 long haired chihuahuas and now a cat 🐈⬛ Very easy to take out the beater bar if needed, suction on these are superior to Dyson, and light enough that every day use isn’t going to kill your shoulders or wrists. My current one I use for work gets beat up, like 2-3 homes a day all have pet hair and it still works great after 2 1/2 years. Hope this helps even with the $$ but you can get good deals on Amazon.
Vacuum suggestions for long hair
I have really long hair, and stress induced hair loss, so I shed like crazy at times. I hate having to cut hair out of my vacuum so I started sweeping (back and forth and in a circular motion) my carpet first. It may sound strange but the broom gets a lot of hair off the surface of my carpets (and rugs) and I vacuum after. Way less frustrating than taking apart my vacuum and cutting and unwinding all the hair from the belt, bristles and such. I use a smaller hand held brush for spots that tend to collect more hair like the couch and next to my bed. Hope that helps. 😁 More on reddit.com

There is no perfect vacuum for long hair because of how vacuums are designed. There is always the brush roller that is designed to tangle things so that the rest of the system doesn’t get clogged up. You will have to get used to regularly cleaning the roller unfortunately. A lot of people don’t know that vacuums require cleaning and maintenance every couple of months, or else they do break because they get too clogged up. More on reddit.com
