If you're torn between what to get, I would turn to GadgetryTech on YouTube. IMO he provides some of the best realistic feedback and reviews on headsets. From a measurement perspective, but also just from his experience and using the cans. He likely has videos on the headsets you have mentioned, and you'll come to a better conclusion than what this sub would recommend as most of the time it is "gaming headset bad, get wired instead". As above, can someone recommend the best one available today purely for gaming? I wanted a Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED Wireless but am left confused due to the mostly negative posts about it here on Reddit but positive reviews about it on YT. I wanted a Logitech headset to match all my other peripherals that will be from them too but the price and Reddit posts are putting me off.

Ideally want a slightly cheaper (but good quality) one around £150. I know the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is pretty good as well as the Audeze Maxwell but those are much more expensive.

After some research, the three less pricey ones I get are the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023) and V2 Hyperspeed as well as the HyperX Cloud Alpha. Anyone here use these?

Are Logitech's Astro series any good? Or any other Logi headset that's better than the G Pro X 2?

Thanks in advance for the advice/comments.

I'm looking to make a significant upgrade over my thoroughly mediocre Razer Barracuda X wireless gaming headset — specifically with regards to audio fidelity.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but what I'm hoping to find is one unit that combines the sound quality of studio-grade headphones that would be satisfactory for the likes of an audiophile and/or adequate for professional video/audio production work, with the practical features and functionality of a gaming headset — or at the very least just the addition of a microphone — so that I can use them in that capacity as well.

I have not had much luck searching for guidance online. There doesn't seem to be any real consensus or a clear "go-to" product offering even for people who are prepared to just throw money at the issue.

Wireless is a must for me for the ability to get up from my desk and walk around without losing my audio feed throughout my work day or during long conference calls and webinars. I'd prefer 2.4ghz wireless as opposed to Bluetooth for the low latency while gaming, although it would be nice to have the option of Bluetooth as well just for wide compatibility with devices other than my PC. A generous battery life would also be a big plus (so I'm not losing power in the middle of a call or a match just because I haven't charged them in the past 12 hours), as would an on-unit mic mute button for the and/or a flip-to-mute microphone arm. All-day comfort is a also must, so a relatively light-weight, good ergonomics and high quality padding / ear cups are all big value adds for my needs.

I've taken at the Hyper X Cloud Alpha Wireless headset that's currently on sale at $150 for Amazon Prime Day, which seems to be loved by gamers everywhere, but while they would surely offer much better audio quality than my current headset, reviews on their sound quality are mixed, and I hate that it is only offered with one color option with its garish anodized bright red accents — not a good look on work-related video calls, and also don't match the rest of my setup. I'd much prefer something that looks and feels vaguely professional in straight black.

I also found the JBL Quantum 910 Wireless headset which is currently on sale at the same price point of $150, but doesn't look like they have fantastic build quality, and I'm again finding mixed reviews on their audio quality. Their integrated microphone also seems to be of very poor quality.

I've also looked into several Sennheiser headsets marketed to the gamer niche because I've been a fan of theirs after having been thoroughly satisfied with several other pairs of their headsets/headphones I've owned in the past, although a lot of the customer reviews seem to indicate that they're not even true Sennheiser products and that they've just licensed their brand name to another company to slap it on a family of middling-quality units in order to sell them at a premium price.

I figure that if I'm going to be spending at least $150 even for a decent headset with several apparent trade-offs in quality and feature set, I may as well adopt a "buy once, cry once" mentality on this purchase and go ahead and look into the even higher price range offerings to see if I can find something that will truly impress.

So what are some of y'alls picks for the absolute best wireless gaming headsets out there, that would make an audiophile blush, at any price range?

r/HeadphoneAdvice on Reddit: What’s the best wireless gaming headset in 2025? Need a solid upgrade!!
March 26, 2025 -

Hey r/HeadphoneAdvice people, my current headset is straight-up garbage: constant disconnects, mic quality is awful, and the battery barely lasts. Been dealing with this for too long, so I’m finally upgrading. Looking for a wireless headset with solid audio, a clear mic, and good battery life that won’t die mid-session. Comfort is a big (I mean huge - as I wear glasses) deal too since I game for hours, and I don’t want something that crushes my head.

UPDATE: I got this one as it was the best one I found with top reviews for 2025.

I’m in the USA and looking to spend $150–$300, but I’ll stretch a bit if something’s truly worth it. Mostly using it for PC and PS5, so compatibility needs to be solid.

Sound-wise, I want good bass for immersion but not overpowering, plus a clear soundstage for FPS games. I also need a decent mic for voice chat, nothing crazy, just something that doesn’t make me sound like I’m in a tunnel.

Had a few headsets in the past, and I always run into the same issues: bad mic quality, weak battery life, or they just feel uncomfortable after a few hours.

Anyone got a go-to recommendation for 2025? What’s holding up well for you? I searched online and found a few, anyone using these?

  1. Audeze Maxwell Wireless

  2. Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED Wireless

  3. Razer Barracuda Pro Wireless

October 29, 2023 -

hey does anyone got a recommendations for a great headset for gaming and music that is around $100 to around $150 or some range like it (even if it goes up to $170)

because im looking for a great headset that would do great for gaming and music, im most concerned about sound over anything i can care less of feeling the bass, im no audio expert by anymeans, i just care about how good the sound is. i also want the headset to have a wireless connection, the USB dongle type.

i been looking at videos and such and i cant really decide which, i been sorta eyeing the SteelSeries New Arctis Nova 7, but i been hearing mixed opinions and so, idk about them, i currently have the Hyperx Cloud 2 wireless, its pretty good but i do like collecting.

so if you know of any great headsets that i should consider, do tell, hopefully amazon sells them too.

November 28, 2024 -

Hi everyone,

I'm currently using for gaming/listening to music my 3y/o Logitech G Pro X Wireless. Recently i got into high res audio etc and i was researching some good audio quality headsets. I mainly play videogames but i also listen to music a lot and i would like them to be able to play some 24bit 96khz files wirelessly.

My requisites are:

Wireless 2.4ghz no bluetooth (if it has both is good but i don't care about bluetooth)

Can play 24bit 96khz audio wirelessly (if it has lower sample rate wirelessly but with the cable i'm able to raise it it's fine)

Low latency for gaming

Built in microphone not required but it's better with it

I looked up for some headsets and these are the models that came up that i think are good:

Logitech G Pro X Wireless 2 (only because they are the same as the ones that i have at the moment, i know that the audio quality is far inferior)

Beyerdynamics MMX200 Wireless (they are the best pick over all for me but i don't know if they can do high res audio)

Creative Zen Hybrid PRO SXFI (someone mentioned that they can do 24bit 96khz playback but i don't really know them)

Audeze Maxwell (i don't really know them but everybody say that are really good)

r/buildapc on Reddit: Best Wireless Headphones for Gaming and Music Production Under $300?
December 13, 2024 -

Hi! I'm looking for the best, preferably wireless, headsets or headphones for gaming (mainly Rainbow Six; I need to hear footsteps and all that jazz) and music production. I have a budget of $300 USD and will be using them with both my Xbox and PC, primarily at home. While I'm not sure how much isolation I need, I don’t plan to use them in public, so it’s not a big concern. I prefer on-ear headphones and value wireless functionality, although it would be great if they could also switch to wired for music production when needed.

For reference, I’ve used the Razer BlackShark V2 X (wired) and Turtle Beach Gen 600 Xbox (wireless). I preferred the wireless convenience of the Turtle Beach but found the Razer excelled more in music production. I’m not entirely sure about my tonal balance preference, but I’m hoping for something versatile that works well for both gaming audio (especially footsteps and detailed sounds) and accurate music production. I use a RODE NT-USB+ as a separate mic, so I don’t need a built-in mic, though I wouldn’t mind having one if necessary.

Currently, I’m considering the Arctis Nova Pro Wireless and the Audeze Maxwell, but I’ve seen mixed reviews regarding their performance for both gaming and music production. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The best doesn't cost 300$. For accurate music production wired studio headphones is the way to go. One of the most popular is Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro paired with external AMP/DAC if you want them to sound at their full potential. Sticking good headphones into a PC motherboard slot will sound like shit. If isolation is not an issue and you don't risk waking anyone at night you might also consider DT990 for wider sounstage. There is a bit better and more expensive model of each of those, respectively DT1770 Pro and DT 1990 Pro. Since you will be using them at home with your PC they might as well be wired. They will also allow you to hear footsteps in games very clearly and arę perfect for competitive gaming or simply immersive gaming with rich sound in single player games. For Xbox there is a dedicated Microsoft headset. The sound is good, don't need anything more expensive for that. Even if you buy a wired one - it might be a more convenient option since you can use your pad wirelessly and pług headset into it directly. You need to charge your pad to use it wirelessly, charging headphones too? Well, that's a personal decision. For relaxive music listening I use Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2. They are perfect for wireless music listening, have passive and active noise reduction. You don't have to limit yourself to one pair of headphones for everything. One will not satisfy all your needs also.

Forgive me for being not completely helpful I have to go to work soon I just came across this thread. Firstly I wanted to say that most likely *all* headsets are pretty bad. I've never come across a 'headset' that had good audio capabilities no matter how expensive they were but especially from gaming brands, like Razer and Turtle Rock. They're just not good enough for production at all. You have a dedicated mic (me too!) Then I suggest just look at regular headphones instead of a headset. The Beyerdynamics mentioned before are fantastic although certainly not wireless. I've been using my Bose QC35 IIs for like five years now. They're wired and wireless (I use wired for production), they're reference quality so no silly bass enhancement or anything like that and honestly they're a bit sharper than many of my friend's wired monitor headphones (and being they were more expensive I would hope they are) Crinacle had a great website where they review headphones and give grades based on how good they are, see if you can find it and have a look it's a very good service that I'm glad exists. I can help more later but I really gotta get going now! https://crinacle.com/

r/HeadphoneAdvice on Reddit: Wireless gaming headphones that don't suck, sound good, will last, for ~150EUR?

My requirements:

  • lift mic to mute.

  • low-latency wireless.

  • good sound quality in both games and music.

  • good mic quality.

  • good construction quality (not cheap plastic that breaks after a year).

  • driver software that doesn't suck. (i.e. not razer or elgato/corsair), or better yet work with no software.

  • around ~150 EUR

After lots of reading of lots of comments I've come to the conclusion they don't exist. I'm really hoping someone here can tell me otherwise.

My previous headphones were the Logitech G Pro Wireless, but the mic died in the end, rendering them useless. also there were issues with the mute button becoming intermittent which I serviced and made work again.

When they died I switched to a spare pair of Razer Barracua Wireless headphones and the sound quality was utterly terrible, I found them hissy, mushy.

I also had some Corsair headphones, but the plastic cracked and broke after a year or so on them.

The Logictech G Pro were terrible for listening to music, but were OK for gaming, I wasn't impressed by them at all. My old Sony MDR-V700 which are over 25 years old sound better to me which I still use on my electronic drum kit.

Turtle beach used to be good, but these days reddit is full of comments saying the quality is bad and not to waste your money.

Astro used to be good before Logitech bought them, apparently they're now overpriced and not as well made.

There's some Hyper X ones, but all reviews say they have bad mics.

What options are there?

I've had my fair share of both bad and 'great' wireless headsets for gaming over the past few years, so I switched back to a wired headset and have been using the DT900 Pro X since October. However, I really wanted to return to a wireless option, so I bought an Astro A50X. The sound quality is great, the base station functionalities are impressive, and most importantly, the mic quality is perfect. Unfortunately, I received a defective unit and the replacement also turned out to be defective (a buzzing noise in a $400 headset makes me hope it's just a faulty unit...).

So here's my question: What would be the best wireless headset for gaming money can buy? I'm looking for a headset that has at least a day of battery life, more than decent mic quality (since wireless headsets and their mics can be problematic), a base station for charging would be great, obviously good sound quality, and reliable software that doesn’t frequently bug out, among other features

Please, if anyone has any great recommendations, I beg you, share them. I can't stand having a wireless headset that costs so much yet delivers so little!

Looking for an upgrade? But how do you pick the right gaming headset for you? these are the 3 main things you need to know before buying your next wireless gaming headset.

  • a good set of drivers makes the difference.

Inside the ear cups of any headset lie the drivers....and no im not talking about golf clubs. These are the internal speaker units that will transmit sound to your ears, and the difference between a good set and a bad set can also be the difference between great sound and a crackly, hollow-sounding mess.

So, how do you know if your next headset purchase has great drivers without listening to them for yourself? Well, here’s where it pays to listen to trusted reviewers like my good self, who spend their days listening to the very best and the very worst headsets available on the market. Because sound is such a subjective thing, it’s really down to a good reviewer to convey how the drivers in a headset sound under a variety of conditions. We use descriptive terms like “chunky,” “weighty,” “thin,” and “harsh” to try and convey exactly what sort of audio experience you’re going to get out of the box.

Even with good sound being a subjective term, there are things you can look out for on the spec sheet to guide your decision. Forty or fifty-millimeter drivers are fairly substantial, and....providing they’re well-made and tuned correctly, should be capable of delivering substantial bass alongside detailed, atmospheric audio. Look out for respected brands like Razer, HyperX, Beyerdynamic, and others to give you the best shot at buying a quality set of drivers that should be great for both music and gaming.

  • comfort is important.

All this talk about sound matters for nothing if the headset itself is uncomfortable to wear. Again, this is quite a subjective thing, but a good reviewer should point out whether a headset digs in over the course of a long day, or is so comfortable you forget it’s there. As a general rule, if a headset looks uncomfortable in the product photos, it usually is. Look out for generously padded headbands, soft and squishy ear cushions, and any mention of clamping force.

This is essentially the grip that the headset puts on the sides and top of your head to hold itself steady. If it’s judged well, the headset should stay atop your head without slipping around, while still feeling comfortable. Judged badly, and it slips off easily....or even worse, it can grip your head so tightly that after a couple of hours’ usage, you can find yourself with a nasty headache. Adjustable headbands are key here, so look out for any headset with a large range of adjustability, particularly if you’ve got a head like an Easter Island statue.

  • battery life equals quality of life.

If you’ve opted for a wired headset, you can safely ignore this section. But if you’ve opted for a wireless model, we need to talk about battery life. Nothing ruins a wireless headset experience quite like a low-battery indicator beeping incessantly at you on a regular basis. Many gaming headsets now offer 80 hours or more of wireless audio between charges, and our favorite wireless headset overall, the HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless......can even go up to 300 hours without being plugged into the wall.

In all honesty, though, 25 hours or more is a fairly good rating for a modern headset, although id always lean towards higher battery-life models wherever possible. Part of the joy of owning a good wireless headset is not having to think about cables, and that joy quickly turns to misery if you find yourself hunting for a charger on a daily basis. We all wish our devices had infinite battery lives, but until we start living in the sci-fi future we were promised, we have to make do with what we’ve got. Pay attention to battery-life ratings, and you’ll have the most hassle-free experience.

  • audio is a very subjective thing, and one person’s perfect gaming headset is another’s tinny-sounding nightmare.

However, if you pay attention to the advice here and look up plenty of reviews before buying your next model, you shouldn’t need to spend the entirety of your next paycheck on a gaming headset to get something that’ll last you for years and deliver brilliant audio to your eardrums in perfect comfort.

The good news is, not only are there plenty of brilliant gaming headsets available on the market right now, but we has tons of in-depth headset reviews on our site to help you make an informed buying decision.

Best Wireless Gaming Headset Worth Buying Now

  • HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless

  • Razer BlackShark V2 Pro

  • Audeze Maxwell Wireless

  • Razer Kaira Pro Haptic

  • Corsair HS80 Max

Hope this helped.

My trusty gaming headset just gave out after years of intense sessions, and I’m in the market for a new one. I don’t need pro-level esports gear just something reliable, comfortable, and with great audio and a good mic. Bonus points for wireless connectivity, long battery life, and solid noise isolation.

This post was pretty helpful.

Let’s say under $200, but I’m flexible if something is truly worth the extra cost.

I mostly play FPS, RPGs, and multiplayer games, so sound clarity, comfort, and mic quality matter most to me.

After some research, I’ve narrowed it down to a few popular options:

  • SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless

  • HyperX Cloud III Wireless

  • Razer BlackShark V2 Pro (2023)

  • Logitech G Pro X 2 Lightspeed

Edit: Updated to add purchase advice suggested details
Edit 2: Solved!

Main points:

  • Wireless

  • Low latency

  • Sounds great for music

  • Mic not needed

  • Only needs to be PC compatible

  • Close to or less than £300/GBP

  • Nice to have - charging dock

What **aspect of your current listening experience would you like to improve?**My main issue with the Sony WH-1000XM3s are audio latency and I hoped for audio to be a bit more punchy when wireless as that is my primary use of them.

Budget

~£300/GBP

How the gear will be used

At desk only, a lot of usage >12 hours on most days. I look after my gear so expect minimally bumps.

Preferred tonal balance

I'm not all that sure really, I'm not much of an audiophile, but I like bass but the mids and highs to be clear as well. I guess that makes it tonally balanced with a slight bass bias?

Preferred music genre(s)
Trance - classics to hard and psy, DnB, house, glitch, a mixture of other EDM genres, metal, sometimes just piano and rarely pop stuff.

Past gear experience

I used to use cheapo earphones, those were tinny and horrid. Got some SoundMagic E50 earphones for a while, those were better, but still not great. Eventually got HyperX Cloud Gaming headphones for gaming about 5 years ago and they served me well, I still have them! The audio seemed great on the HyperX headset, quite liked them but they lacked bass. Around Sept 2018 I got the Sony WH-1000XM3s for commuting to work, then eventually started using them on my PC as my daily driver because the wireless is really convenient, the bass is good when connected with the 3.5mm jack, but I want to stay wireless where possible. I still feel even when wireless, the bass is better on the Sony headphones than the HyperX ones I was using, though I feel the higher frequencies were more clearer on the HyperX compared to the Sony one on wireless.

I found ASTRO A50s, they seem to have alright reviews on YouTube and other sites like RTINGS, but then you find the Reddit posts of users having issues with them and some say the sound quality isn't that great 😕

Would love to get some recommendations!

As the title implies I am looking for headphones that would be both great for music and games like FPS shooters where audio cues are important.

I’d like to upgrade from the typical gaming marketed headsets. It seems the audio quality is not typically worth the price, and I am in belief that a standalone microphone paired with a wired micless headset would be much better in terms of overall quality. My price range is up to $400. One suggestion I’ve heard frequently is the beyerdynamic DT 770s. I love the look and comfortability of these. Any suggestions?

UPDATE: I ended up buying the beyerdynamic DT1770 pro MKIIs and they have been everything I was hoping for. I won't say blown away because these were quite expensive compared to a lot of alternatives which I imagine would do just as great.

To start they are extremely comfortable and sit perfectly on my slightly above average sized head. I love the appearance and build quality of these.

Music: These absolutely blew me away coming from my old $100 Steeleseries Arctis 1 gaming headset. The quality is just on a completely different level, and I am rediscovering love for old songs just by listening to them on these. After a bit of EQ tweaking, the bass is great, and not overwhelming. Everything sounds so clear and separated, but also smooth. Don't want to go too in depth on it because I am no audiophile.

Gaming: Exactly what I was hoping for in these headphones. The sounds in a first person shooter are all very distinct, and I feel that I can very clearly know what is happening around me.

Overall I am very pleased and this is exactly what I needed for a gaming/music combo. I imagine the $200/$400 cheaper version of this headphone would give you a very similar experience, and I likely overspent. However for my needs these ticked every single box. Hope this helps someone find what they are looking for.

by far the best ones for gaming would be Sennheiser HD 490 Pro, that said all around I prefer Audio-Technica ATH-R70x or R70x Refine if you are in US as it's $50 less from closed backs $699 msrp Denon AH-D5200 you can get for ~380 shipped from Japan on eBay brand new, it's a step above DT 700 Pro X, DT 770 X and AKG K553 MKII which are all better than regular old 770s

Fellow gamer discovering audio here, first questions first: Are you looking for closed headphones (passive noise isolation) or open headphones (you can hear your surroundings and they can sightly hear what you're listening to)? Closed headphones: look into the Fiio FT1. They're currently very well praised and hit above their price point. Haven't tried them personally as I prefer open, but they're easy to look up as they're the most recommended closed headphones of the year. Open headphones I've tried and would recommend: R70x, AR5000, Ananda. All well praised with different sound profiles, so your preference matters. They're all very detailed and have good imaging for directional accuracy. Do you lean towards bass? ATH R70x is warm neutral and its "R70x Refine" variant had a limited run in North America that offered better bass. Incredibly comfortable and smooth, you could also get the classic R70x and switch pads down the line to imitate their Refine variant. Another headphone I haven't tried but have seen recommended with emphasis on bass are the Hifiman Edition XS. Do you prefer really clean mids? The Aune AR5000 were so CLEAN upon my first listening. I'm unsure how else to describe them aside clean, clear and so satisfying. Currently testing them out for both music and gaming. Maybe vocals are what makes it come alive for you? Hifiman Ananda really wow'ed me with how crystal clear vocals sounded. I had never heard vocals that way before. Some concerns over the Hifiman quality control, however. Also uncomfortable for smaller heads, but great for larger heads. The little Sennheiser 560s deserve a mention and were my entry level gateway drug, but I think you can skip them with your budget on hand. All of the ones I've mentioned are worth your few minutes watching some YouTube reviews or reading up on them. You'll see how well received they are and they're all great for competitive gaming and music. You'll just have to start somewhere and see if it fits your sound preference. Just like the first character you pick on a new FPS title. Lastly, in case you ask, the Fiio FT1 "Pro" just came out but haven't tried them, an unfortunately side effect of not being made of money. Hope this helped!

Hey! Looking to switch from my Arctis 7 to a new headset. I'd like something which fits both for gaming but also has nice fitting audio for listening to music. Any recommendations?

Gaming headset? First of all, comfortable wear. When you’re gaming the last thing you want is your ears hurting because of to much pressure on them or because there is to much friction with the padding. Then secondly, good & clear sound quality. You don’t need a lot of bass guess you’re not listening to music but also not to little because you still need to be able to distinguish certain sounds.

Volume control on the headset is always practical.

AND NO BL**DY SURROUND MESS

It’s just so unnecessary, a headphone is physically ideal for stereo, so use the stereomix. The “surround” mix for a headphone is like wanting a luxurious car to drive a small circuit behind your house. Nobody is going to tell you it’s impossible and the seller of car will tell you it’s the best car to drive that mini-circuit but we all know a gocart is much better suited.

Also, if the surround isn’t being sent over different physical channels (which leads to very thin brittle cords or very bulky normal ones) then it has to be processed in the headphone itself which causes a delay in the sound. As a gamer, that’s the last thing you want, another delay/lag.

Lastly, you don’t want an ugly headset. Make sure it’s really what you want and that you like how it looks. If you don’t like the color scheme but the set itself is good, try asking an employee if there are any other colors available. If they don’t have any other colors, switch to online shopping and look for your desired color.

Other people might judge differently, but that’s what I always look for when buying a gaming headset.

And here are the top 6 best wireless gaming headset that are widely loved currently.

Best Wireless Gaming Headsets in 2025

  • HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless

  • Razer BlackShark V2 Pro

  • Audeze Maxwell Wireless

  • Razer Kaira Pro Haptic

  • Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 3

  • HyperX Cloud Stinger 2

Wireless headsets can be very convenient and look very snazzy, but choose the wrong one and be annoyed with the high latency and connectivity problems.

I have picked headsets and headphones that can downplay these inconveniences. You might not be able to notice them much and this can make up for a more surreal gaming experience.
