r/Mattress on Reddit: Tempur-Pedic cloud pillow vs Casper foam pillow?
May 6, 2024 -
Hi all—I am looking for a new pillow! I currently have a down one from Brooklinen but it is not supportive at all for me. I've had pretty bad cervical neck pain. I did an MRI and found out I have mild arthritis in my neck. I know a pillow won't solve my pain but hopefully it can at least help!? I've settled on these two pillows and was wondering what you all thought?
I sleep mostly on my side and back. I am also on the smaller side so am not looking for anything with super high loft. Any help would be great! Looking to hear if anyone has any experiences with these pillows or which one they would recommend for me.

Personally, I'd go with the Tempur pillow. I have a casper pillow that I won, I admit it is the down one. Frankly, it is a pretty terrible pillow. The sizing is very odd, do not recommend them. The tempur pillows from my use of them have been consistent, just get the right size.

R/bedding is probably a better resource for this question. Pillows are a very personal preference kind of thing. For me, a pillow with shredded latex or memory foam works best. But I like thinner pillows so appreciate the ability to remove filling to get my preferred height. Something like the Coop memory foam or any brand shredded latex. My latex pillow comes from a local place, but there really isn't anything special about it so I assume most brands would be similar. I've hade the Casper pillow and the Tempur pillow from Costco. Both were too firm and thick for me. Especially the Casper, I hated that thing.

It’s time to replace our old traditional mattress/box spring and foam topper. I’m leaning toward a memory foam type mattress. Tempur-Pedic or Casper?
From what I understand the Snow max uses lower density 2.5pcf memory foam, then has a couple of what are imo gimmicky cooling features such as graphite infused foam and phase change materials. It is a hybrid though and has air channels through the foam to allow heat to dissipate, so it still might not sleep especially hot. Then the Tempur adapt is their entry level mattress. It will have a polyfoam core instead of pocketed coils(unless you mean the adapt hybrid) and the memory foam Tempur uses will be a bit denser and higher quality. Especially once you start looking at their pro and luxe line of mattresses. I feel like Tempur overcharges quite a bit for what you are getting, but at least with them you know you're getting decent materials. The casper snow is also pretty expensive for what you are getting as well I would say. One downside to the all foam Tempur is it will likely build up heat much more than the Casper snow hybrid would. I would trust the durability of the Tempur more though. Another option Id like to throw out there, there is a company called Tempflow who makes mattresses to compete with TempurPedic. What I like about them is they are transparent about the materials in their mattresses, you know you will be getting nice high density foams and that they havent been decreasing the quality over the years like so many others have. What I dislike is the lack of feedback. This is a company that has been around for like 20 years and there is very little customer feedback online. You can find a few mentions on Reddit, a little bit more on The mattress underground, but thats really about it. Another option which I think is a great deal for the price, If you have an Original mattress Factory by where you live they sell the Serenity and Serenity Plush . This mattress has a super dense memory foam comfort layer, much more so than modern Tempur's even. 2" of 8lb memory foam, then 3" of 5lb memory foam, and a 2.25lb polyurethane foam base. imo if want to go Tempur Adapt and dont want their higher end mattresses. Look at the Costco models . With these you get Costco's return policy, which is basically they will take it back no questions asked, no return fees, no exchange only policy or sleep trials. What kind of pillow is best for side sleepers?
Side sleepers need a pillow with a high or middle loft. This refers to the height of a pillow, and side sleepers should look for a height of around 5.5 to 7.5 inches. A high-to-middle loft helps to cradle the head and keep the spine in a neutral position all night. As for the best material for side sleepers, that comes down to a personal preference.

How often should I replace my pillow?
While the recommended amount of time to replace your pillows is every one to two years, you can extend this a little by washing them. Over time, a pillow will gather allergens and lose its shape, putting your head right next to these problems and offering less support.

I've tested 20+ pillows as a home editor, and the Casper Original Pillow still gets my vote as the comfiest
March 23, 2025 - The pillow is filled with polyester microfiber and covered by cotton percale fabric, so it's hypoallergenic and stays cool throughout the night. It also has a gusset, or an extra piece of material that creates a side panel, which adds structure. The Casper pillow is fairly lofty, which is why it's a particularly good option for side sleepers who prefer the feel of a fluffy down or down-alternative pillow over a memory foam pillow.
