Sort of, I guess, but it’s not really fair to say yes because there are other cards - Capital One SavorOne and Wells Fargo Autograph being two - that offer 3x on dining with no foreign transaction fee, so you’d be coming out ahead there rather than just “even” with the CFU. Sapphire Preferred is also is 3x on dining with no foreign transaction fee, but there’s a $95 annual fee. Without knowing your specifics, I’d generally advise to just withdraw pesos at a local atm in Mexico, but if your debit card would charge high withdrawal and transaction fees, then maybe it would be cheaper to get pesos from your bank beforehand (not sure if there are fees for that). Hey guys, so my chase freedom unlimited card charges a 3% foreign transaction fee. However, it also offers a 3% cash back for restaurants. Does that mean if I use my Chase unlimited card for dinners during my upcoming trip to Mexico, it affectively has a 0 foreign transaction fee?
Also, do you guys know if it’s cheaper to exchange for Mexican pesos at my local bank and then physically bring them over to Mexico vs using my credit card vs withdrawing Mexican pesos using my debit card at a local Mexican ATM?
